New Product Review: Limm Resistance Loop Bands

So my girls are now 2, and I still haven’t been able to settle back into a regular exercise routine. I totally blame them. HA! 

We got going in a couple good grooves over these past 2 years. I really enjoyed the phase where they loved being in their stroller – that was a dream, folks. There’s tons of great walking paths around here, and we had a great time exploring them. They got fussy? No worries! Pop a bottle in their mouths and continue on!

It’s not nearly as easy these days. And I’ve resorted to the idea that, in order to do any kind of actual exercise (besides chasing them around everywhere, I mean) I actually have to do it before they get up in the morning. And it’s true…this blog really isn’t about fitness, but I think that fitness definitely plays a part in the journey to domestication, as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve found a few great internet-based programs that I’m really liking these days. You’ll hear me talk more about a great one called Aaptiv later on this week, actually. So those kinds of things seem to be helpful in my current occupation of “2-Year-Old Twin Chaos Coordinator”. The only problem was, I found I was missing some of the tools I needed to make the most of some of these workouts. And I wasn’t sure how to go about taking care of that issue.

So when Lisa from Limm contacted me, I was a bit curious. I hadn’t heard of Limm before, but I was very intrigued to know that they specialize in home fitness products. Ooo! Right up my alley! I took a peek through their website, and when Lisa offered to send me a set of resistance bands, I was all about it.

Folks, there are SO many different exercises that include resistance bands. I had no idea, until I started getting in to various online workouts. I won’t lie, I tried to make my own! HA! (THAT’S really what we need pics of in this post!) The reason I tried to make my own was that I wasn’t sure what “level” of resistance band(s) I needed! For someone like myself, who isn’t experienced in this area, the world of fitness equipment is a bit daunting. I didn’t want to order something, then find it wasn’t right for me…then send it back…then try another one…ugh! It just seemed like a big hassle. (And what’s an even bigger hassle these days is loading up my kids to actually visit a brick and mortar fitness store to see resistance bands in person!)

Lucky for me, when my resistance bands arrived from Limm…

…I found they were EXACTLY what I needed.

From extra light all the way up to extra heavy, no matter your age or agility level, there’s at least one that will work for you! Plus you can use various bands for various exercises, to build on your strength and continue to grow your endurance! And if one day you’re extra sore or perhaps you’ve slept wrong and have a crick in your neck or something of that nature, there’s no need to change your workout – just use a different band and go a little easier on yourself. How great is that?!

Did I mention that HE likes these bands, too? (I had to go in search of them the other day because someone got a little bit carried away and actually carried them away! HA!) And it’s worth mentioning that my girls think they’re great fun to stretch with – although, to be perfectly honest, they don’t need ANY MORE resistance training than they’ve already acquired just being the typical 2-year-olds that they are. MERCY.

After using these bands for a bit, I popped back over to Limm’s website to see what else they might have to offer for my workouts. Eating Healthy on the Road

We’re coming up on Summer Vacation time, and with that comes lots of un-healthy eating. At least that’s what happens to us when we’re on the road! We get in a rush, or we don’t plan properly, and the next thing you know lunch is junk food from the gas station where we filled up the car! 

So when Nancy McCoy contacted me and told me she could help, I was all about it! Here’s a few tips from her to all of us…

When you have be on the road, there is a possibility that you’re going to think about fast food. Tips for Healthy Eating as a Family

The more I read labels on foods I’ve eaten all my life, the more my eyebrows raise. There is SO MUCH JUNK in our food! Sure, the “junky” food seems easier to grab and prepare, but in the long run, healthy eating is way more worth it!

When it comes to healthy eating as a family, time management and budgeting can make it a bit difficult to get the hang of. Especially if you are a parent (which is really where my brain is at these days), it’s important to foster healthy habits in your children when they’re young so they can carry those habits into the rest of their lives. Find a Farmers’ Market
 
The price for fresh produce at farmers’ markets is nearly unbeatable. You can stock up on locally grown food that’s in season to use for the week or freeze for a later date. Since you’re buying food that’s in season and cutting out the transport costs, you’ll save quite a bit of money on produce.

 
Cook With Your Kids
 
Nothing is more frustrating than preparing a healthy meal just to have your child turn it down. To avoid this, try collaborating as a family to find meals that you’ll all enjoy. Once you’ve made a plan for the week, involve your children in the cooking process. Even young children can take an important role, like snapping green beans or topping a casserole with cheese. When they’ve helped to create a delicious meal, your kids will be more motivated to eat it and their confidence will grow in the kitchen.
