And now, how about ANOTHER recipe contest? I mean, why not, right?!
Did you know that October is National Cookbook Month? You know, cookbooks. The ORIGINAL Pinterest, right? I still have some special cookbooks that I use often, do you?
Keystone Meats is a fourth generation family brand offering premium quality canned protein and meal solutions who decided to celebrate National Cookbook Month with its Rewriting the Great American Cookbook Contest, shining a light on recipe hacks and making dinnertime favorites easier with Keystone Meats. Inspired by today’s busier-than-ever family, consumers will be asked to vote on recipe makeovers, or recipes that can be made easier and better with Keystone Meats. Every time a fan goes in to vote for their favorite cookbook recipe, they will be entered to win the grand prize. One grand prize winner will be awarded a year of Keystone products, including the brand’s premium canned meats, soup bases and broths! Consumers can enter online now through October 31!
I’ve been on a big comfort food kick these days…surprise surprise! I’m not feeling much like eating, but when I do, I want to make a recipe that is warm and soft and tasty. (This week, at least!)
Last year I gave my mom and my mother-in-law was a cookbook. That’s probably something THEY should have given to ME, you say? Well, this one was a bit different.
Basically, it’s a blank cookbook, split into normal cookbook “sections”. It’s for moms to record family recipes for their daughters – which I think is totally cool!
My mom gave me this book back filled with family recipes…written in her own handwriting…which I think is totally cool, too. One day my mom won’t be here anymore, and this will definitely be something to treasure!
So I started to flip through what she had recorded for me, and I found this entry:
I love my hometown of Plant City, Florida! I really do! One minute you can see folks decked out in camo from head to toe pushing a Walmart shopping cart down the road, and the next you get to meet up and chat with reality TV show champions! It doesn’t get any better than that, folks!
Earlier this week, the owners of Fringe (a super-fab boutique in PC) invited me to come out to a book-signing event they were holding for Whitney Miller, Fox’s MasterChef Season 1 winner!
At age 22 she won MasterChef, and has been featured across the globe in Southern cuisine cooking promotions and as a judge in food competitions including the 2013 World Food Championship. Her recipes and articles have appeared in People, Women’s Health, Southern Living, Clean Eating and Cooking Light magazines. Whitney also travels the country using her seasoned palate as a food judge. And she currently resides in Plant City!
My hubby and I have been fans of MasterChef from the beginning (and TONIGHT starts another season of MasterChef KIDS!), so I was all about it! I always loved Whitney’s fun personality, so it was a joy to meet her in person!
Everyone probably has their favorite recipe for Chicken Pot Pie, but I wanted to share mine with you, because it’s a little bit different, but it’s SO yummy and REALLY easy! I made some over the weekend and the hubby was thrilled, as usual. (It’s one of his faves!)
This one’s saved in my handy-dandy custom cookbook!
