If you are like most homeowners, spring is a time when you get to work tidying up around your spaces. The season is a great time to declutter and straighten up your home. This year, there are many tips you can follow to help you streamline the process, and having an “order” to your spring cleaning can help you spend less time on the process overall!
Declutter and Downsize
To begin, declutter and downsize. Think about areas in which you have a plethora of STUFF. A closet is a great place to start! Most people have tons of clothing in their closet and never wear it all. You can essentially create an amazing amount of new space in your home by decluttering just one closet. The kitchen is another area where you might have a ton of items that need to be weeded through. Take some time to think about additional areas in your own home that hold the most stuff and focus your attention on those spots!
Downsizing collections can also cut down on clutter. Consider downsizing shoe collections, purses and other accessories or keepsakes that you have a large grouping of to create more space in your home.
Make a Schedule
One way to organize your spring cleaning in 2019 is to make a schedule. This comes in handy when trying to organize multiple rooms in your home. Create a schedule based on each room of your house. Start with the easiest room and work your way to the most cluttered and/or dirty. This way, you can mark rooms off your list quickly as you move from room to room cleaning up. Try and schedule one room a day and your spring cleaning will be knocked out in no time. Plus, it’s a lot of fun and extremely rewarding to cross things off a list!
Create Organized Spaces
Organized spaces are the best spaces. Knowing where everything is located and having a place for each of your belongings just makes life easier. When cleaning from room to room, keep a few tips in mind. Always place items in rooms where they belong. In the kitchen, only keep items you use in the kitchen. In the bedroom, the same thing goes. By organizing rooms based upon the use, everything has a place and is in a space where the item will be used. This helps you to avoid having to spend a great deal of time looking for something (or even putting it away) because you will instantly know where it is!
Wipe Down Everything
Spring is a great time to wipe everything down and start with a clean space. Take time to clean each room with wipes or a microfiber cloth as you declutter and tidy up. You will be able to remove any built-up dust from the winter months and ensure a tidy and healthy home.
By using the above tips, you can start your spring cleaning with ease. Take time to organize the cleaning process so you get done quickly and make the most of your cleaning time!
