Shocking Stats About Getting Organized!

How’s that for a title? Are you intrigued now? Are you READY?!

I honestly think the most shocking stat about getting organized is the fact that the people you THINK are organized perfectly are NOT. It’s true. I have people tell me all the time they can’t believe how organized I am, and all I can think is of my nightstand drawer, that is a hot mess right now. Or the fact that our guest room closet has turned into a catch-all closet. And don’t get me started on the pile of disposable gardening pots that’s on the side of the house…out of sight, out of mind, right?

Are you shocked?!

Carrer and success

I’m not. In fact, millions of Americans have a hard time getting organized. Don’t believe it? Let the statistics do the talking.

  • On average, we spend 1.5 hours a day looking for things.
  • 80% of what we own, we rarely use.
  • Can you guess the item in the house that both men and women look for the most?

Thanks to the amazing Stephanie over at Monkey Bar Storage, who put together some information for us, we can SEE some of the shocking stats and hopefully use that knowledge to CORRECT our biggest organizational problems!

Check it out!

I have to say, my husband hardly ever looks for anything…because I tend to find it for him, ha! But I fall right in line with the “Women” side – I am ALWAYS looking for shoes! And they’re all in the same place! I don’t get it!
Thanks again, Stephanie! What about you? What did you relate to the most above?

  1. Shocking, but true. I don’t know why it’s so hard for many of to let go of the stuff we don’t even use. This is a reminder that I should start working on decluttering my house.

  2. This is something I should regularly do. I am so caught up in work that I tend to forget to do some organizing and decluttering around the house. You are indeed right, a lot of time is wasted just looking around for things.

  3. I agree the stats could be shocking, but honestly if you sit & think most of the points are very true with most of us. We think we are organized, but at the end of the day there are moments where you could realize you aren’t really.
