The 87th Academy Awards ceremony (the Oscars) will be held this coming Sunday! While I’m not typically a fan of awards shows, I DO enjoy watching the stars arrive on the red carpet. I think you can tell a lot about a person from the way they dress, and I’m always trying to predict the best and worst-dressed! (That’s about as fashionable as I get, to be perfectly honest.) But it’s a fun game to play!
Regardless of wins or losses in the fashion world and beyond, one thing is for sure: that red carpet better be spotless! I mean, really, people. I sure wouldn’t want to be there if someone discovered a STAIN on the carpet right before the stars begin showing up…I can only imagine the frenzy that would ensue. Perhaps they even have an entire spare red carpet hidden somewhere? I have no idea, but it seems like a plan to me!
So when Hannah from Ghergich & Co contacted me to see if I’d like to share this lovely infographic, I happily agreed! I mean, telling me that carpets can be 4,000 times dirtier than the average toilet seat (can we all just stop for a big ol’ EEEEEWWWWW!!!!!) kinda got my attention. But, she also tells us how to CLEAN them. Which I love! So check it out…
Thanks to Hannah and her partner, eReplacementParts, for the fantastic graphic! Don’t you LOVE that stain removal guide?! SO handy!
What is YOUR favorite red-carpet event? What’s your best tip for maintaining great carpets in your home?
Due to the amount of comments from all of my wonderful readers, it is not always possible for me to respond to each one. However, I absolutely do read them all, and if you’d like to address something specific, or have a question for me, please don’t hesitate to email me at Kristen@theroadtodomestication.com. I will respond to your email as soon as possible! Thank you for visiting the blog!
The first floor of my house is all hard wood, which makes it really easy to clean. Upstairs we have an off-white carpet, which needs a GOOD cleaning one of these days.
Wow! I love this infographic – thank you – since I have dogs that make messes – I never do! lol – also love the Oscars for mostly the same reasons you stated – Most of the movies I haven’t seen yet!
I am so thankful that we have no carpet! When we bought our home, I would not move into the home until ALL the carpet was gone.
I broke free from carpet years ago! Now I fight cleaning grout all over the house
So much great info here! We got rid of our downstairs carpet because it was just too hard to keep clean – especially when we had dogs!
I had no idea that carpets could be so nasty! We got rid of most of ours and only have area rugs now. But I can definitely use the tips to keep those clean.
I need to teach my son the coffee stain trick. I noticed more than a few small coffee spots at his apartment!
I love carpet! Carpet is warm. I hate sweeping. LOL These are all great tips!
What a great infographic, we decided when we moved to have mostly hard floors put in, sadly the one room I did carpet the carpet was a little lighter than I thought it was in store, I definitely have to keep on top of it with a dog. x
I clean my carpets every month, need to make sure they don’t get too dirty!
We don’t have carpet thank goodness, I used to always complain about them so I was glad to move in here with all hardwood!
I love this infographic. I can’t believe how carpets can get dirty. Vacuming on a regular basis is a must
I love watching the outfits at the Oscars too! I usually have no clue about the movies, I’m not much of a movie watcher, but the dresses are gorgeous. Wow – the carpet infographic was eye-opening. We used to have all hardwoods, then decided to put carpet in our bedrooms because it was more homey. My oldest daughter is in charge of vacuuming and well, isn’t very thourough yet so this has me a bit freaked out! I think we are due for a deep cleaning. 🙂
I’m glad we don’t have carpet. I do have rugs that need lots of cleaning.
Um, yeah, the toilet seat info. definitely grabbed my attention. You know that I’m never looking at my carpet the same way again, right?
