One Word for 2016

Happy New Year, y’all! 2016 – I can’t hardly BELIEVE it!!! I hope you all had a wonderful and safe celebration with those you treasure!

I started doing this “one word” thing a few years ago. Basically, instead of a “New Year’s Resolution”, per se, you choose one word and speak it over the year to come. I really liked the idea. So I’ve kept on doing it.

This year the word I’m choosing is “well”.

And it goes back to this:

I love the line that says, “Whatever my lot…it is well with my soul.”

You know what, just one look at the world around us and we can see a LOT that isn’t WELL. I mean, all you have to do is turn on the evening news. You’ll see how not well it is, believe me.

In the same way, I’m sure that each one of us can look at our lives and pick out those things that are not well. We all have them, for sure.

But no matter what, my SOUL. I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that my SOUL is WELL. My body may not be well. My mind may not be well. I may have a relationship or two that isn’t well. But my SOUL. “Whatever my lot…” It is WELL.

I’m thankful for the blood of Jesus, that has rendered my soul WELL. And if you want YOUR soul to be well this year, please let me know. I’ll show you the way!

So…for 2016. Well. My soul is well, I will treat my loved ones well, and I will do what has been given to me to do well.

So welcome to 2016! Do you have one word for the year ahead? I’d love to hear it, and why you chose it!

Due to the amount of comments from all of my wonderful readers, it is not always possible for me to respond to each one. However, I absolutely do read them all, and if you’d like to address something specific, or have a question for me, please don’t hesitate to email me at I will respond to your email as soon as possible! Thank you for visiting the blog!

  1. I think if there’s one word that I’d like to follow for 2016 it would be Balance. I need that in my life right now. No matter what, I wish you a good year ahead. I hope we all achieve our goals for this year.
