If there’s two things y’all know about me already, it’s that I HATE clutter…and that I LOVE a bargain. This being said, I’m quite the avid viewer of the Yard Sale Sites on Facebook. Have you seen them? If not, do a search on Facebook for a Yard Sale site for your town/city/county. People post anything and everything on these sites! You can get some great deals, and even haggle prices, right on Facebook!
Anyways, we have a room at the new house call “The Project Room”. The reason for this is, it’s basically an extra bedroom that we’re not using yet. We never really anticipated getting a 4-bedroom home yet, it just kind of happened that way. Down the road, that will be the nursery (and NO, I’m not insinuating or announcing that I’m pregnant!) but for right now, we’ve left it pretty empty. Except for having “stuff” in it.
This “stuff” was stuff I gathered and people gave us while we were looking for homes. When we bought the house and moved in, all the “stuff” that didn’t have a home was put in this room, awaiting the time when it would find its spot around the house. Well, after a while I found out that it wasn’t meant to have a place in the house. So I started posting and selling it on the Yard Sale sites in my area.
Sometimes this requires mailing items to folks. They offer to pay shipping and handling above the cost of the item, and I pack it up and send it off to them!
Except I had been packing and sending a lot…and I ended up with no packing materials left for this last shipment.
So I made my own – with trash bags.
If you blow some air into a trash bag, and then knot it closed, leaving some air inside, it creates a nice little cushion perfect for packing! See?
You can adjust the size to whatever you need, and make sure everything fits in the box accordingly!
Perfect!
Try it the next time you run out of packing materials – it really works great!
Do you ship packages often? What’s your best packaging tip?
What a great idea! I needed this the other day when I sent off a big box of things, but instead I just used plastic grocery bags with the handles and stuck in as many as I could fit. Never thought to put air in them!
I’ve used plastic bags bunched up, too…but if you only have a few, this helps to stretch them! 🙂
Good idea!
Thank you 🙂
I like that idea! I need to rid our storage room of some of its contents, too!
But isn’t it nice to have a storage room?! I just have to make sure mine doesn’t get out of hand!
Great idea!
Thanks, Victoria! 🙂
