There are tons of digital ways to plan and schedule life these days. And, contrary to what you might think, I would LOVE to go digital in my planning. I really would! In fact, I used to BE a digital planner…until that fateful day when my computer calendar didn’t sync with my email or my phone, and I didn’t realize it. Well, I didn’t realize it until I had already missed two meetings and let down an excellent client. At that point, I decided to trust good ol’ pen and paper once more, and, no matter how much wishful digital planning thinking I do, I just can’t get past the fact that a sync might not happen once more. I just can’t do it.
So, a couple years back, I decided that, if I was going to do old-fashioned pen and paper planner, I wanted it to be fun and pretty and colorful! I wanted to be able to mark important events in style, and sometimes use the planner as more of a journal when it came to specific events. In lieu of all that, I purchased an Erin Condren planner.
I LOVED that planner! So pretty and fun and had lots of neat options with it, like stickers and interchangeable covers and a ruler/page marker.
I was all set to purchase a new one when a friend mentioned to me that she was buying another Plum Paper planner. Well now, what was Plum Paper? I had to go find out!
I think there are many similarities when it comes to these two brands, so let me make these points:
- I think they are BOTH good quality items that most anyone would be happy with
- I like the Erin Condren covers better than the Plum Paper ones (they are thicker)
- I like the Plum Paper pages better than the Erin Condren ones (they are more customizable)
- The Plum Paper planners are more cost effective than the Erin Condren planners
Those are just a few points that come to mind. Note: I did NOT go page by page on each companies website and provide and detailed compare/contrast report. These are simply a few of my casual observations!
I purchased a Plum Paper planner for 2016…
…and really ended up loving it!
You can have the monthly planner pages, just like the Erin Condren planners offer, and you can add the weekly pages, too…
But my MOST FAVORITE THING about the Plum Paper planners is that you can customize sections in the weekly planner!
See?! Don’t you love it?!
I also added a fitness section to my 2016 planner. I used it so much I went ahead and purchased another one for 2017!
To this year’s planner I added the “My Home” and the “Baby” sections. They have lots more sections to choose from and add in!
To help keep myself even more organized throughout the year, I use the Plum Paper Stickers (available as an addition to your planner purchase on their website), my leftover Erin Condren stickers, a variety of washi tape, and a variety of highlighters. Another great source for fun planner accessories is Etsy! There you can purchase event-specific stickers for your planners, such as wedding planning stickers or pregnancy/baby stickers. Sometimes I also get fun ones from the scrapbooking sections of my local craft stores! This year I’m trying to be classy (not too overdone) but still cute and colorful! Heres how my January shaped up!
How do YOU plan? Do you have any other planner brands you think I should take a look at?
