From time to time I see a new product on my grocery run that I want to try out. If the result is favorable and I think others would enjoy, then I share it with all of you! So, here we have the results of something new that I tried: Progresso Recipe Starters.
While I really enjoy cooking from scratch, sometimes our life simply doesn’t allow it! There are days when so much has happened that my only goal is to get something on the table that is healthier than fast food. I know that’s bad, but sometimes that’s just all I can muster up! Those are the days that I REALLY love a product like this one!
Progresso Recipe Starters come in five flavors: Creamy Parmesan Basil, Creamy Portabella Mushroom, Creamy Roasted Garlic, Creamy Three Cheese, and Fire Roasted Tomato. Each one offer a variety of recipes they can be placed in, for an easy, no-brainer meal.
I chose the Creamy Roasted Garlic flavor this time around and decided to make some Chicken Cordon Bleu!
You can see there on the package that it tells you everything you need. The only thing I personally didn’t have already in my stores at the house was the Swiss Cheese, so I remedied that quickly. Then I was all set.
Yep, this was literally all I needed! (Well, besides some butter, salt and pepper!)
It was so easy: you fry up the chicken first…
…add the contents of the Recipe Starters pouch…
…have some fresh pasta ready…
…and plate and top with ham and swiss!
(Sorry, you can’t really see the swiss cheese, because it’s under the ham for melting purposes, but it’s there, I promise!
Easy peasy! I threw in some green beans for some veggies, too. And the hubby loved it, which is always helpful!
So there you have it! Based on this experience, I love the Progresso Recipe Starters! Can’t wait to try another one!
What about you? Would you give them a shot? Which one would you choose?
Seems Yummy maybe I should give it a try…
I think you should! 🙂
I’m always up for trying new recipes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen these around my grocery store. I’ll definitely look for them next time. The creamy parmesan basil looks delish! 🙂
Hope you find them! (They’re by the soups at my store!)
I love Progresso Recipe Starters because I don’t have a lot of time to spend cooking and they make preparing meals really easy. They are perfect for busy Working Moms.
Exactly!
Looks simple enough and delicious! Will have to see about making this for the hubby and son!
Hope you all enjoy it!
Looks very simple. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, very simple indeed!
This looks really good. It kind of reminds me of another product that my friend loved called cooking creams. They came in several flavors but they vanished a few months ago. I’ll be sure to tell her about these by giving her the link to this post. she’ll be happy!
Oh, good! I think I saw those cooking creams ones, but I never tried them!
I would definitley try them. I am ALL for things that make my life a little easier – especially in the kitchen,. I think I would try the Creamy Roasted Garlic first.
Yes, it was not gluten-free, so I couldn’t tell you what it was like, but J LOVED it!
I love Progresso Soups, so I imagine these recipe starters would be just as tasty and convenient. It certainly looks delicious!
Absolutely! (I love the soups, too!)
Yup, see those in my coupon bundles all the time, but I haven’t tried them.. o.k… anything easy appeals to me, but I was AFRAID until I heard reviews… LOL.. yes, I said it.. afraid of easy! Looks yummy! I think I’d want to try the fire roasted tomato (with a side of garlic bread!) I bet it also tastes good as leftovers, keeping the chicken moist. Leftovers are part of my budget.. always need to plan for lunches too, so this is definitely a ‘must’ on the next trip to the market 🙂
Oh, do NOT be afraid! And yes, we are leftover people, too! In fact, hubby was planning on eating one of these chicken breasts on a ciabatta roll for lunch!
I would try them, for sure! Your recipe looks a lot easier than my traditional chicken cordon bleu where I have to pound the chicken, stuff them with the cheese and ham, etc. Anything that makes life easier, I’m all over!
I know, I made it the “real” way one time…and that was it. Tasted good. Took FOREVER! This was much easier!
Yum recipe. I love what you did with the starter. The finishing is always most important too. 😉
Thanks, Diane!
Haven’t seen those in our stores yet, but will have to watch for them. They look so easy to use!
Yes indeed!
I love recipe starters! I don’t always have tons of seasonings or ingredients on hand when I cook during the week since I live so far out of town. These starters can help with that!
Very true!
I would definitely try them ! Can’t wait to try the three cheese one. Way too often I need to have dinner ready as quick as possible- always hungry kids in this house! lol
And I would have to say that these are pretty kid-friendly!
I don’t see how recipe starters are any different than a sauce. Of course, I’ve never tried them.
Well, they’re pretty much a sauce. I think the difference is they tell you exactly what to put them with. So you can go into the store, pick one of these up (ready-made sauce) grab the things they say you need and you’re set for dinner!
I had the same question ;). I am lost when it cones to cooking from a box.
I really love the shortcut it provides. I’m all about putting together a quick weekday meal!
Me too! Especially on a Monday!
I love having simple recipes like this to fall back on when we’re so busy (which is always). Thanks for the review!
Agreed! Glad you enjoyed 🙂
Looks great! I love anything that makes cooking easier.
Me too!
Wow I’ve got to admit that this looks like it would taste amazing! I need to try this as soon as possible.
Hope you like it!
I would try any of them except for the fire-roasted tomato because my kids are anti-spicy. These sound perfect for a non-cook like me.
Ah, gotcha. That’s true, it might be spicy.
After reading this post i would so try them. Thank you for this I have been debating about these now I know.
Oh, good! Glad it was helpful!
Oh yum that sounds delicious, I love how simple it sounds as well, I’m not the worlds greatest cook 🙂 x
Definitely VERY simple!
Oh that looks so simple and delicious! I could go for a fun easy family dinner like this myself! Amber E.
I think you should! 🙂
The pasta looks so good, pasta is one of my guilty pleasures and I could eat it every day!
Ah yes! I’m with you!
I just bought some fresh homemade spinach and basil pasta from the farmers market. This might be a good recipe to use it with! 🙂
Ooo! I would have to agree!
That is one chicken dish I have not actually but you made it look easy. I will give it a try.
I thought it was pretty easy!
I am not sure, I usually end up trying these types of things when I send my husband to the store for groceries. He always finds something new to come home with. I am one that if I am short on time then a quick stir fry is my way to save time.
Oh yes, I’ve used those, too! Actually, that’s what I leave for HIM when HE’S cooking!
I would love to try the Roasted Tomato one. It sounds like something my family would like.
I’m sure they would!
ooh what a wonderful recipe! Love their soups too. really great, I just used one the other day
Oh yes, I’m a big fan of their soups too!
Those look great to have around for the “I dunno” dinner nights. What do you want for dinner? I dunno. Those drive me crazy.
I know, I hate that!
I love progresso soups so I bet theses are tasty. It would be so simple for the teens to make as well for a family dinner.
Oh, that’s true! It’s a good place for them to start!
I love to find new products I know I’m going to love too. The recipe starters sound great (and easy!).
They are indeed!
I had no idea progresso had these recipe starters. Seem it would cut down on food prep time
Yes, it definitely did!
Neat! I love the idea of having a ready to go sauce. Makes things easier. 🙂
It sure does!
I like easy and I love garlic, so this would be perfect. I’m going to look for this at the store.
Hope you find it! Mine had it by the soups 🙂
I was interested in trying these but was worried what was in them? I’ll have to give the ingredients list a look to see if they have just simple ingredients or some weird stuff
Here are the ingredients from the one I used : Chicken Stock, Celery, Soybean Oil. Contains less than 2% of: Wheat Flour Bleached, Modified Com Starch, Onion, Cream, Soy Protein Concentrate, Butter, Salt, Roasted Garlic*, Sodium Phosphate, Natural Flavor, Modified Whey Protein Concentrate, Potassium Chloride, Yeast Extract, Parsley*, Egg Yolk, Chives*, Spice, Sugar, Ascorbic Acid, Beta Carotene (color). *Dried
I saw these in stores and was wondering how they tasted. Your recipe looks so delicious!
I thought it turned out pretty well!
I have yet to try them out…but will do so very soon, especially after reading this post! I like trying new things for dinner, though I would have to buy two packages because it says it only serves 4. My husband counts as 3, then my 3 kids, and I (hopefully he won’t see this) lol 😉
HA!!! That’s funny LOL
Haha! That is funny– both my husband and our grown son who has moved back home count as two around here 🙂
This looks delicious, I want to give this a try.
Hope you enjoy, as well!
The one you made looks yummy– I might try to use one for chicken alfredo.
Ooo, that would be good!
This sounds amazing! I am so sad I won’t be able to try it out. I think I’d do something like slice up the ham or something though!
Ah, true!
