Must-Have Nursery Items for a Fall Baby

My sweet cousin is getting ready to have her first baby. Not only am I super excited for the baby, but I also love that fall is one of the best times of the year to welcome your new bundle of joy into the world! The weather is not too hot, and in some cases not too cold (if it’s not snowing yet). But the best part of having a fall baby is that you get to kick off the holiday season with your new addition — starting with Halloween. The thought of shopping for your little one’s first Halloween costume can be so exciting. While adding a Halloween costume to the nursery closet is a must, here’s a list of some items that your fall baby needs for the changing weather.

Swaddle blankets

Because the temperature only drops at night, using a really cozy swaddle blanket for day naps is more than enough. Baby Tula baby blankets are made with 100% viscose from bamboo, making them cozy but also breathable. The pulp from the bamboo also makes these blankets plump with softness. Make sure you have plenty of swaddle blankets to provide the most comfort and warmth for your baby so you don’t have to worry about layering them with a ton of clothing.

Wipe warmer

For those changes in the middle of the night, your baby is going to love the fact that their wipes aren’t freezing cold from being taken straight out of the package. There’s nothing worse than a cold touch after being snuggled up. Keep the crying to a minimum and remember to keep the warmer stocked up and plugged in. It’s also a lot quieter too when pulling a wipe from this device instead of from a crinkling package.

Swaddle blankets are great until your baby unravels himself. A sleepsack is a safe way for your baby to sleep under a warm blanket. Think of it as a small sleeping bag, where they have the warmth of a thick blanket without any dangerous loose articles of fabric in the crib with them. Once you put on their night cap and mittens, they will be comfy, cozy and warm just like they were in mama’s belly.

Bottle warmer

For those cold midnight feedings, shorten the time you wait in the kitchen for your baby’s bottle to warm up. This little device can be placed in any room. All you have to do is fill the bottle with formula and water or breast milk, stick it in the bottle warmer, and within seconds it is warm enough for their feeding. An impatient baby will let you know they want their bottle right away so this helps cut the crying down and soothe them faster.

Plush animals

Because newborns are more interested in sleeping than playing, which will come later, try to make their nursery a comfy one with a Jellycat bunny or something similar. Of course you don’t want to place it in the crib. Instead, place it on a shelf close by where they can see it, on the floor in the corner of their nursery so when they get to tummy time they have something playful to look at, or on the nursery chair for decoration when they are getting rocked to sleep or enjoying reading time, if you’re starting them early.

A small plant

Not only can a plant breathe some life into a nursery, it can also make the room breathable. Did you know that non-toxic plants can purify the air for your baby? Plants such as the Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree, the Zanzibar Gem, and the Peace Lily are all natural air purifiers which every newborn could use when breathing. Palmer Planter pots come in different varieties and designs that can go with the theme and decor in your baby’s nursery.

As parents you’ll find that you’re always thinking ahead, so with that in mind, make sure you plan ahead to keep your baby cozy according to the weather in your area!

What is your favorite part of fall with your kiddos?

  1. Baby Tula blankets are so amazing! They are soft and thin and just perfect for babies. I also think a sound machine is a good investment, especially if you have other children or noisy pets!
