When thinking about freshening homes, people often think about touching up the paint or adding new wallpaper, maybe even some modern furniture. Doors don’t require upgrading as often, so they’re forgotten about. High quality doors are built to last years, however, they experience a battering of daily usage. When a complete refurbishment is needed to turn a home from drab and dated to modern luxury, internal doors should be one of the first things considered. An simple option such as internal glazed doors will last through years of interior design fads while still looking great and creating a positive atmosphere.
Doors take up a lot of space in the home, even small homes. Yet they don’t seem to take up much space at all. This is due to their function. They serve a purpose that the pictures hanging on the walls don’t. They separate rooms. With that much space taken up by doors, they can most definitely add luxury when the right doors are selected.
All internal doors need to match to avoid creating a chaotic atmosphere. That doesn’t mean they need to be the exact same door. If glazed doors are desired for all rooms except the bathroom and storage cupboard, it is still possible to match. Simply find glazed doors that have matching panelling.
Our twins are four years old now. FOUR. How on earth did THAT happen?! I’m honestly not sure, but one thing I do know is that they have an opinion on most things these days. Four going on fourteen, if you know what I mean.
They’re VERY into unicorns of late. I’m talking, if there’s a product that is unicorn-themed, we have it. Hair bows. Sunglasses. Purses. Shirts. Pajamas. Slippers. Sleep masks. We even have rubber unicorns that hold a ball in their mouths, and when you squeeze their bellies, the ball shoots out. That joker hurts if it hits you just right, I’m here to say.
I’ve been working on updating their room a little bit over the past few months. Their original nursery when they were first born didn’t really have a theme, just a lot of colors. That’s how I wanted it, so it would grow along with them and be flexible as their needs and wants started to change. These days the colors still work, but I’ve been adding in a few more items that personify who they are right now. I’m not done yet, but I was pretty intrigued when Cellia from PhotoWall asked me to try out some of their products.
When most people go on vacation, they want and expect the ultimate treatment, especially when it comes to their accommodations. With hotel accommodations, guests can indulge in room service, in-house restaurants, and exceptional spa facilities… This type of vacation experience allows guests to not have to lift a finger.
On the other hand, there are vacationers who want the ultimate vacation experience but enjoy it most in vacation rental properties. With this type of vacation experience, there is no room service or spa facilities (typically) like hotels provide, but people still enjoy it more than hotels.
Because it gives vacationers that “home away from home” experience. Yes, people want the luxury of not lifting a finger while on vacation but being able to stay in a property that’s nice with all the makings of home, without it being their actual home, is still a huge selling point to lots of travelers. That reason alone is why so many people are getting their feet wet in real estate investing.

Having guests come to town for the holidays can be exciting, and at the same time, put a lot of pressure on you as the host. While your inner Martha Stewart will frantically try to get everything picture perfect, it doesn’t have to be. The most memorable detail for your guests will be the way you make them feel during their stay. So while you’re working hard to get the house ready to impress them, make sure you put more effort into the things that will make them feel the most welcomed and comfortable. Remember, nine out of ten times, your guests will feel like they are intruding on your space so the best way to make them feel at home is with these thoughtful touches you can add to their stay.
Find out what your guests like to snack on. Make sure to add their favorites to your grocery list and keep a good stock of them in your pantry or cabinet. If they aren’t as forthcoming, as some may be, add some popular items. Snacks such as granola bars, trail mix, chips and dip or salsas, cookies, fruit snacks, chocolates and crackers, are some of the most basic but loved snacks. The same goes for beverages. If you know they are coffee or tea drinkers, have a few varieties on hand if you don’t know which brand or blend they prefer.
Leave a note
A heartfelt note on their bed or bathroom vanity is always a genuine gesture that’s appreciated by all in this world of texting, emails and direct messages. If you’re not quite sure what to write, explain to them how happy you are to be hosting them along with some tips. Tips such as how to work the remote in the guest room, a list of where things are in your home that you think they will need, and even some nearby places they can walk to for coffee, lunch or to buy toiletries. You can also write down your timeline for activities you have planned for them so they can be aware ahead of time. A small note can go a long way in making a person feel welcomed.
