Allow Me to Introduce You!

It dawned on me the other day that I haven’t introduced everyone to the newest member of our family! And then I started thinking…have I introduced any of the rest of the family, so everyone can put names and faces together? Oh boy. I haven’t! So, here we go…

Well, obviously, that’s me there, holding the cat. Hey, y’all! If you want to know more about me, just CLICK HERE, and we’ll leave it at that!

That handsome guy to the right is my husband, Jerrod. Jerrod works in insurance claims for GEICO (15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance!), sings so well that he’s actually won singing competitions, and does a fantastic job at keeping our yard pretty, helping around the house and keeping me sane!

The small black furry creature that I’m holding is CoCo the black kitty. (Can you BELIEVE that she looks right at the camera for pictures! She’s always done that!) We rescued CoCo when she was about 4 weeks old.

We bottle-fed her for several weeks (she was that tiny), taught her to eat and potty in the litter box and walk on a leash and she’s been a crazy part of the family ever since. CoCo’s favorite things to do are sleep and eat green beans. She’s also a big fan of stalking birds in the backyard. And sitting in tight spaces.

And now, here is the newest member of our family!

Meet Taffy the dog!

We rescued Taffy, as well, but she was already 3 years old when we brought her home. She is the happiest dog (as you can clearly see from this picture) and she loves going outside, any kind of toy (whether it be a cat toy or a dog toy) and having her belly rubbed.

So we’re still doing a little bit of adjusting around the house as far as CoCo and Taffy becoming friends. CoCo was shocked when we brought Taffy home, and Taffy wasΒ excited to play with CoCo, and then sad when CoCo expresses her distaste in playing or doing anything else with the filthy I-can’t-believe-this-thing-stays-in-this-house-now dog. Follow me on Instagram and you’ll see more of their antics, I promise!

So that’s our little family! I guess we need an updated “family picture” right? I’ll get right on that!

  1. What cute babies you have. The pic of the kitty looking right at the camera when she’s so small cracks me up! And I’m sure Taffy makes it impossible to say no to that sweet sweet face! You have a beautiful family, hairy and all!

  2. Thanks for introducing us to your lovely family! Now I can put a face to their names. Love the family picture and the pet pics!

  3. Coco is adorable! My daughter has a beautiful black cat also! Love Coco in the empty drink plastic. We always put the empty package on the floor for our kitties too. It never gets old, does it? Beautiful family of fur babies! Your little family portrait with your hubby and Coco is pretty!

  4. Love your post!! I did the same thing to my Grace back in October, she was only 2 weeks when I got her and had to bottle feed her and teach her to use litter box lol Love the pictures πŸ™‚

  5. Taffy is so cute!!! I hope CoCo and Taffy learn to get along for you. Growing up we had a very feisty cat, she always made sure the dogs knew she was in charge. πŸ™‚

  6. Coco is gorgeous! I have an affinity for black cats…always have. In my mind they are absolutely good luck. It will be interesting to see how Coco and Taffy will ultimately get along. They are likely to come to some kind of agreement amongst themselves. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and sometimes it seems like I am walking into a heated negotiation at the U.N., but most of the time, everyone gets along. I have even caught all of them except my big tomcat Keeno snuggling together! Here’s to a happy fur family.

  7. Black and white, how elegant ;)! Pets are so much fun, aren’t they? Hope the two become best friends very soon. We just got a new Siamese cat that keeps us entertained.

    • Thanks, Kristi! And yes, green beans! We’ve tried to give her all kinds of cat-approved things: shrimp, tuna, chicken…she turns up her nose. All she likes is cat food (only the dry), cat treats and green beans. (Steamed, unseasoned, and cold). She’s so funny!

  8. What a cute dog! Congrats on your new fur baby! We have two dogs and I love them so much! Our cat passed away last fall at 22 years old. This spring we may get a kitten. Note I say may.

  9. Aww, your animals are just too cute! I currently have a dog and a cat who I believe is expecting so I’m looking forward to more furry friends. πŸ™‚

  10. CoCo and Taffy are SO cute! I can never see enough photos of happy animals, so you can always know that at least oNE reader out there cares about your cat and dog news! Coco’s eyes are really cool and I love the pic of her in that plastic!

  11. What a cute little family. It is very difficult for a sibling to adjust to a new sibling whether they are adopted or birthed into the home. πŸ˜‰

  12. What kind of dog is Taffy? She has some of the same characteristics as my Eskies (RIP). Happy happy dogs and full of energy. I loved them so much!

    • Well, they tell us she’s a mix between a King Cavalier Charles Spaniel and a Papillon…but her little legs are so short that I wonder if she’s not part Corgi, too? She looks like a miniature squatty Golden Retriever most days LOL There are those pet DNA tests you can have run to find out their exact mix, but those are about $300…and I can think of a lot more things I can do with $300 than that LOL

  13. It’s so nice to meet you and your entire family! I am so not a pet person, at this point, I don’t think I ever will be. the cat is just cute though….awww! πŸ™‚

  14. yay!! a puppy!!! 3 is still a puppy in my eyes! What great fun and you will wonder why you didn’t find a dog earlier.. I just came in from playing with my two (used to have 3) and of course even though my male decided to chase a fox over the hill and through the woods (literally) I couldn’t even be mad when his happy face came running back (many long minutes later). Of course he has all his boy parts, which makes him much more ummmm, let’s call it adventurous.. my female stayed right with me assuring me she would never misbehave thus deserving many more treats, right? their personalities are so different, which makes even easier to love them both just the same in different ways! I love my furbabies forever and always! Can’t wait to hear how you teach your dog to ‘organize’ !! haha.. Congratulations! Hope we see tons more of your pets in your blog!

  15. Aww, Taffy is a beautiful dog! You have a gorgeous family. I love CoCo, I lost my black cat last year. She had such personality. Nice to learn about your family!

  16. How cute they are. My kitty will not let any new friends come. He hates other cats and Im not sure about dogs yet.

  17. oh my so cute. I almost want a pet now. Almost lol I live in a two bedroom apartment so that’s going to have to wait. I love the look of your blog and the cartoon character on your header. your family photo is great too.

  18. What a cute little dog! I am so glad that rescued an adult dog like that. Way to go! I know you have made such a difference in Taffy’s life! πŸ™‚
