A QUICK Christmas Ornament Storage Hack! FREE PRINTABLE Included!

Have you taken down your Christmas decorations yet? I always take ours down on New Year’s Day, and this year was no exception. The only problem was, I had a few new ornaments that I wasn’t sure how to store. Mainly two large round glass balls. Oh dear.

I was going to place them inside two Solo cups taped together, as I had seen on a Facebook video, but they were even too big in girth for the Solo cups! Mercy! What could I do?!

So I started walking around my house looking for something to put them in, and suddenly, I got an idea!

Do those words, “I got an idea!” strike fear into the hearts of everyone else’s husbands, too, or is it just mine?

I keep lots of disposable food storage containers on hand, because we hate throwing food away – we’d rather share it. So, if I get carried away and make too big of a lasagna and want to share some with our neighbors, then I have plenty of disposable food storage containers that can easily be filled for optimum sharing. And when I came across said disposable food storage containers, I had an “ah HA!” moment! And just like that…

Two food storage containers, flipped atop each other, with one strip of tape affixed on each side. That’s it.

Ornament is safe and snug, and, bonus: you can even see what ornament it is! Fantastic!

This little hack fixed me up in just a few moments – wanted to share it with all of you!

  1. This is such a great hack for storing those oversized Christmas ornaments. I try to make it to New Year’s Day before taking down the decor, but I didn’t make it this time. Those decorations were down two days after Christmas. LOL

  2. We are always excited to put the decor out and can’t wait to get it down. I have been known to put it all away on Dec. 26th!
Great hack! Love the versatility of those food storage containers!

  3. This is such a creative way to store ornaments especially the more fragile ones that could easily break! I’m about to keep all our Christmas decorations and this one’s really going to help, thanks!

  4. Wow! This is such a great idea. The best part about this is that I don’t have to struggle to open the box to find what’s inside it , I can see through the box.
    Thanks for sharing.

  5. I love that hack! There are times I lose the top of those tiny containers and throw them out. Now I know not to since I can actually make use of them. Thank you so much! You just saved me cash on ornaments and containers!

  6. That’s a great idea! I have a hand-blown mercury glass ornament that my partner gave to me a few years back which makes me incredibly nervous when packing away the ornaments for another year. I’ll use this technique for sure next Christmas!

  7. I have to say, this is kind of adorable. What a great way to keep those big ornaments safe! I actually didn’t put up my Christmas tree this year so I didn’t have to worry about keeping things safe. In my defense, I have a rabbit who eats everything, and I’m somewhat lazy. Lol.

  8. I love this! Such a neat idea for ornaments. I end up just wrapping it in a soft paper towel and stick it in a ziplock bag and place it in a box with all the others. This would keep them all safe! Love it!
