Today I’m thrilled to be working with Van’s Simply Delicious once again! I’ve done several reviews and giveaways for Van’s here on the blog, and the thing I love about Van’s is…well…EVERYTHING!
When I was first diagnosed with Celiac’s Disease, Van’s was one of the first companies I discovered that was making gluten-free items, and they quickly became a name I looked for often! The same is true today, but the difference now is, Van’s has totally stepped up their game! BIG TIME!
But this time around, Van’s didn’t just send me FOOD.
Did you happen to see this photo on my Instagram? (You can follow me on Instagram if you like! Just CLICK HERE!)
Your eyes are not deceiving you! This time around, I also received a plate, a wooden spoon and a colander. All three of which I used when testing the following products (the first from Van’s for lunch and/or dinner!) they sent me:
I had not tried the Ultimate Cheddar Penne, but “mac & cheese” has been a longtime favorite of mine, so I was pretty sure I would enjoy it.
The Creamy Herb & Garlic option, this one I had tried before. It’s perfect for a few week-day lunches – nice and light, and I mix in a can of chicken for some strong protein…even though it already has 11 grams in there!
And ooo, Rotini & Red Sauce! My hubby had a good idea with this one: if I put chicken in the Creamy Herb & Garlic flavor, he suggested adding sausage to the Rotini & Red Sauce! (Some times I look at him and think how smart he is!) I didn’t have any sausage to test with it, but I think it would work beautifully!
So, on a normal basis I sneak gluten-free items into my hubby’s menu. Sometimes he can tell, and sometimes he can’t. But always with any kind of gluten-free pasta, he definitely could tell, and he hated it.
If you’ve tasted any gluten-free pasta, you know exactly why. The texture is different than normal pasta, and there’s sometimes a bit of an aftertaste. So, I must admit, I was expecting this same situation from the Van’s pasta products. After about 10 minutes of prep, here’s what I had:
Let’s look at the rotini first:
I love that there are actual chunks of tomatoes in the provided sauce, and I think my hubby’s right: some sausage thrown in would be PERFECT!
Here’s the penne:
My hubby has never been one for mac & cheese, but I thought this was AMAZING! The cheese was nice and thick and creamy – just right!
And speaking of creamy, the Creamy Herb & Garlic is up next!
Still as yummy as ever! (No chicken this time, though.)
The awesome thing about all of these pastas was: MY HUSBAND SAID THEY DIDN’T TASTE LIKE THEY WERE GLUTEN-FREE! Van’s has done it again! I love it!
I served him his two favorites, along with some bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin and steamed broccoli – perfect!
Along with the pasta, Van’s also sent me their new granola! (The following photos are courtesy of the company, as my husband and I actually munched away the granola before I photographed any of it – yep, it was THAT good!)
And the amazing thing about this granola is that it’s SOFT! It’s like bites of oatmeals cookies with fruit included! (You can see why we gobbled it up so quickly!)
As far as I’m concerned, Van’s can go nowhere but up from here! And they want to share the fun with all of you! Check it out, and enjoy!
On another note, just in case you want to try out these products and you don’t win the giveaway, these Van’s items are AFFORDABLE! Pastas = $3.99 and granola = $4.99! You can’t beat that with a stick!
Have YOU tried any Van’s products lately? What did you think?
