Well, I’ve procrastinated a bit with the Valentine’s Day Holiday Shelf this time, due to the fact that I’m not even totally sure that’s it’s complete! Ever had one of those projects that you had a direction for, but you just couldn’t get it to come together in a satisfactory manner? Yeah. That’s me with this! So we’ll see what everyone thinks…maybe you can help me out a bit with it!
For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about with a Holiday Shelf, CLICK HERE for my original post on the old blog on the matter. And if you want to see last year’s Valentine’s Day Holiday Shelf, over on the old blog, too, CLICK HERE!
My idea for the decor was that I wanted to combine strawberries and Valentine’s Day, because I’m from the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World, and we’re gearing up for berry season right now, which overlaps Valentine’s Day, too…so I wanted to do, “For the Love of Strawberries”. Here’s what I ended up with:
Let’s look at the details…
This banner is actually strawberries in the shape of a heart affixed to baker’s twine!
Just a combination of striped straws, a wine glass and a few strawberry necklaces here! I threw in the lace doily for affect!
I picked up some artificial strawberries (but don’t they look real?!) and added them to a small silver bucket I had.
I completed it with a silver tray and a pretty napkin!
And since lips and mustaches are a big deal these days…
…I had a little fun here! I kept a strawberry accent, though!
I also have this pretty lil’ wreath on the inside of the door, so folks are wished a “Happy Valentine’s Day” when they’re leaving!
So there ya have it!
I still think it needs something…but what? Any ideas?
What a lovely selection! I love the strawberry pendants!
Thank you! I purchase some kind of new strawberry jewelry each year to wear when I’m volunteering at the Strawberry Festival!
That’s a really nice idea!
How cute! I love how inspirational you are with your decorating! I would not have even thought of many of these ideas! Love the door wreath! Great job!
Thank you, Sherry! I try my best to use what I already have, and then go from there!
How cute! I adore that wreath….ok, I adore everything. I don’t have one Valentine’s Day decoration in my house, lol, so I am living vicariously through you!
HA! Anytime! The wreath was from Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago, I think!
Lovely – and I am jealous of having strawberries at this time of year. (We are still at least 5 months away!) The only other thing I could think of, if you like this sort of thing, might be a strawberry-scented candle (or two, for symmetry). That would add another sensory experience to your shelf. But I also love it just as it is!
Oh yes, strawberry-scented candles would be great! (I was actually burning one over the weekend, but it was a heavy glass-jar one, and I don’t want that kind up on the shelf…no need for a big mess LOL)
This is just too lovely. Tomorrow will be spring cleaning for me – I need to fixed my room and everything. I should do something like that too to have that loving vibe all throughout the month or year – perhaps hehe
HA! There’s always time for love! But I DO love the Valentine’s Day colors for decorating!
Just lovely! Love the mirror and all the different hearts. Really helps put me in the mood for Valentine’s Day!
Oh, good, I’m glad, Alli!
The shelf is cute, and now I feel like I need a Valentine’s Day wreath for my door. I’ll put that on my to-do list for tomorrow!
Ooo…I hope you find a cute one!
Hahah… really cute. The lips and mustache are perfect for Valentines Day. I have a great mantel in my living room that this would look great on.
I know, I love those lips and that mustache! I do this shelf because I have no mantel…I’m quite jealous of yours!
How pretty that looks! Maybe you could add in a couple of strawberry scented candles? That would complete the look i think.
Number two for strawberry scented candles…this is a great idea, thank you!
This shelf looks simple and festive. I like it Kristen! You did a good job!
Thanks, Jill 🙂 I’ve worked far too hard on this decor…normally it’s easier LOL
I like it…there is a bit of white space still maybe affix some thing to the mirror itself in the corners…like a heart? I do like it, I just saw that you asked for feedback. I would love some fresh berries, enjoy!
Ah, that’s a good idea too, Brandi! I’d love to find some feathered hearts…that would be pretty…hmmm…
The strawberries DO look incredibly real. My favorite parts are the lips and mustache. Fun little addition to the shelf.
Yes, I love fun, and those two items add a little bit to everything!
I agree w/ Brandi. I was going to suggest strawberry ribbon bows at the top ends of the mirror. But already beautiful the way it is.
Melinda, it’s on my to-do list to search for strawberry ribbon today, actually! Great minds! 🙂
I love it. The strawberry/valentine combo works well together
Thank you!
Can’t believe those strawberries aren’t real! They look amazing! Your shelf looks fantastic!
They’re not, I promise! I made the mistake of using real fruit (lemons, to be exact) over the summer on the shelf, and it did not turn out well LOL
Love the paper straws. I saw them in the dollar bin at Target and was so tempted to get some.
Thank you! I had these leftover from some other parties, but they are so fun for different projects and decoration!
Looks lovely, as always! Strawberry season? That sounds just to good right now by temperatures in the minuses.
Goodness, I don’t know how you do it, Anna!
I love the lil strawberries in the shot glass! I think some REAL roses on either side would be nice.
Ooo! Great idea, Bonnie!!!
I love your holiday shelf. It’s always so cute 🙂 Suggestions? How about a couple of small cherubs on either side of the silver bowl? Personally, I don’t think it needs anything else, though.
Oh, that would be so cute!!! I’ll have to see what I can find…I wonder if any of my Willow Tree figures would do the trick?
I love willow tree 🙂
Me too!
I always love your holiday shelf! 🙂 You could always get an inexpensive metallic garland with red and pink hearts and run it across your shelf for a little more color. Another suggestion to add color would be to change the wine glass to a milkshake glass and add pink fluff to look like a strawberry milkshake. I love the incorporation of strawberries. Some little pink or red candles might be a nice addition too. 🙂

Strawberry milkshake, I like it!!!
Aw cute!!! I love your little shelf! I just decorate inside of a closed glass cabinet so my boys don’t get into it!
That’s a smart idea! This is high enough so the cat doesn’t reach it LOL
wow so pretty you really have a great eye for decorating for the holidays
Well, thank you! I feel pretty inadequate, myself LOL
I love it. I haven’t decorated for valentines day. we just moved into our two bedroom apartment in April and I have nothing to decorate with other then Christmas stuff. I guess over time I will have to build up a nice collection. great idea of a seasonal shelf to decorate each season I have a book case I can do that with I don’t have a mantel or anything like that shelf you have.
Yes, you can definitely build up over time! You can find decor all over the place now, and slowly add to your collection! And yes, that’s why I have a shelf – no mantel and my hubby won’t let me keep the tree up all year round to decorate for holidays LOL
I love the idea of making a Valentine’s themed holiday shelf! I bet my kids would love it if I made something similar to this. Perhaps next year we will make a Valentine’s shelf too. The kids would love to help decorate it.
Oh yes, that would be such a fun project!
You have such nice decorations here! My Mom loves to decorate for most holidays as well. It really does make things seem so much brighter. Thanks for sharing and God bless! 🙂
Thanks, Angel! I love to celebrate just about anything, really!
I love that you used strawberries, it makes it really original! This is such a cute way to decorate for Valentine’s without seeming over the top!
Thanks, Pam! I tried really hard to combine the two!
Wow – what a fantastic V-Day decoration!
Thank you!
Awwww, what a pretty Valentine display on your holiday shelf! Love it, especially the banner !
Thanks, Shirley! The banner was the last thing I added…while crossing my fingers LOL
It looks great but it needs chocolates – of course that is because I need chocolates right now! I love the strawberries in the cup. I have been looking all over for stripped straws – where on earth did you get them?
Oh, cocolates!!! Good idea! And the straws came from Hobby Lobby 🙂
I like it! Our Valentine’s day celebration usually includes chocolate covered strawberries, so I love the strawberry theme!
Ah, people are throwing out the chocolate idea now…yum!!!
These are so pretty!! I like the one on the door the best. Very pretty
Thank you! Hobby Lobby special LOL
Oh I love it what a cute way to celebrate I really need to start stealing some of these ideas and decorating up my place!
Oh, please do! I’d love to see what you come up with!
You’re going to laugh, but I had to do a triple take on the strawberries in the silver bucket. They do look so real! I’m so jealous because I’m far from having the creative decorative mind as you. It all looks beautiful.
I know, they really do look real; I was pretty happy with them! And we ALL have creative minds; just in different areas!
How fun! what a great way to stay festive in February!
I try, Maria!
Red is my favorite color, so I love v-day.
Great colorful pictures.
Ah! Thank you 🙂
I really like that you incorporated things that aren’t necessarily strictly Valentine’s Day items. Looks beautiful!
Thanks! Always multitasking LOL
This is so beautiful and festive. I love being able to make every holiday feel special for our kids too.
Yes! No kids here, but I think it’s important to celebrate life and holidays with them!
You are so crafty! Those are gorgeous display for valentine’s day!
Thank you! 🙂 I try!
Looks great! I love these cute little ideas. I think it needs maybe red or pink short stemmed tulips.
Oh, that would be beautiful! I forget about tulips 🙁
It is adorable. I think it looks pretty perfect and I wouldn’t add a thing. You really have an eye for this type of thing.
Oh, goodness, thank you, Pam!
What a lovely idea it looks really pretty i think those artificial strawberries look so real wow.i think you have made it perfect but maybe some flowers or not i don’t know lol.
Yes, I’m thinking some flowers, too…I don’t have any there, and that’s pretty unusual for me, actually LOL
You are so creative! I can’t get over how real the strawberries in the silver bowl look. It’s all so pretty put together and with a bit of whimsy. I enjoy how you use some jewelry on your shelf decorations to add that bit of bling and eclectic touch. I think it’s perfect but you did ask for suggestions or extra’s to add. An affordable extra could be to sprinkle rose petals (artificial) randomly on shelf and maybe some baubles ? I’m so jealous your entering strawberry season. I have about 6 months before that happens!
Ooo, rose petals! That would be pretty!!!
Your Valentine’s Day holiday shelf is perfect. I like how you draped around all the strawberry necklaces around the glass. I don’t you need to add anything. They look great.
Well, thank you! 🙂
you have such a good eye for decorating want to come over and decorate my house because i love what you do
Why thank you! I once wanted to be an interior designer, it’s true. But my goodness, I would be scared to touch anyone else’s house LOL
You did a really great job decorating, I am really enjoying looking at your decorations and those strawberry’s since they’re almost heart shaped really make it look like Valentines Day.
Yes! I thought so, too! 🙂
What a super creative valentine’s decor idea! Love what you did here.
Thanks, Amanda!
I love how fresh and scrumptious this looks! Seriously made me hungry! It makes me think of sweet treats at an old fashioned ice cream parlour. I’m not the best at suggestions, but the only other thing that sprang to mind was a nice photo, like one that makes you feel warm and fuzzy when you see it.
OH! A photo! I’m a photographer, I totally should have thought of that, ha! Thank you!
Love the look. I am so not good at doing anything for valentines:(
Oh well, the good thing is, you don’t have to decorate for everything! I’m just one of THOSE people LOL
I love what you have put together! I can’t wait for strawberry season. My little one will be too excited! 😛
Oh yes!!!
This is such a cute idea! I rarely decorate for this holiday, but I have a great mantle that I could work with. Even a small area decorated is inspiring and fun!
Oh yes, if I had a mantle I wouldn’t have this shelf, I don’t think. But I DO like that I have this right in the entryway. So even people who just stop by and don’t come far into the house can be greeted in a cheerful manner!
You did an amazing job … I love your beautiful decorations; especially because I had no idea that folk have Valentine’s Day shelves. Great! I learn new things daily.
Elizabeth
HA! Well, I’m not sure if I’m typical or not LOL But I love to decorate for just about anything!
