We’re already past the half-way point of January, y’all! Can you believe it?! Time is just a flyin’!

As with everything else, my goal these days is always simplicity. But I wanted to mix a few different mediums on this one, as well.

Map It Out: Cute DIY Valentines

Happy Monday, y’all! Is everyone ready for Valentine’s Day?

I must admit, we don’t go all-out for the day or anything, but it’s always good to have a reminder to appreciate those you love, isn’t it? So we take advantage of it! I hope all of you do the same!

On that note, I’m totally stoked to share today’s guest post with you! These are awesome ideas from the lovely Megan Wild on how to use MAPS to make VALENTINES! Wohoo!

Now that it’s possible to get anywhere you need to go with turn-by-turn directions on your cell phone, you probably haven’t looked at a paper map in years. Why would you? It’s not safe to open them while driving, and the most detailed ones aren’t exactly convenient to carry around since they’re so big. Worst of all, they’re nearly impossible to fold back up flat again!

Luckily, you can turn those old maps into great works of art. If you have a collection of maps lying around your house, try using them as a free source of paper to make creative Valentines for friends and family. For some inspiration, check out these fun Valentine’s Day crafts to get started:

The great thing about all those old maps is that they’re made out of paper, so they’re easy to work with. Think about it as a free source of scrapbook paper – the same paper crafting techniques apply. If you’re a seasoned scrapbooker, you probably already have an arsenal full of supplies, but here are suggestions for a novice to craft a beautiful handmade Valentine with maps:

On The Road in January

Well, there it went. The first month of 2015 is OVER, folks!

I have to say, I very much enjoyed January of 2015. I always take January off from my photography business (because I run myself into the ground October, November and December) so I’ve actually been operating at a bit of a slower pace for the past month. I mean, I’m still working full time and doing the blog…but slower, nonetheless!

I’m really loving what everyone else is loving here on the blog in January, and that makes me happy! So, without further ado, here are the top five posts on The Road to Domestication for the month of January:

1. The 2015 Valentine’s Day Holiday Shelf – I think this one was popular with everyone because of the giveaway, right? Well, the winner has been chosen and her personalized print mailed to her, but the shelf is still decorated just like this, if you want to see!
