Well, hey, y’all! Are you still in a turkey-induced coma? Are you already out shopping those Black Friday sales? I hope you and your family and friends enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration!
Where will you find ME today? I’m home, folks! You could not pay me enough to be out there in the craziness, I’m sorry! I’m home taking down all my Fall decor and putting up Christmas. My house looks like Christmas vomited all over it, but it’s okay – it’ll be so pretty when I’m all done!
But you know what? Before I get all the way into Christmas, I’ve got to say: we have TONS of Thanksgiving leftovers stacked in our refrigerator right now. And while I HATE to waste food, I also HATE eating the same thing over and over again. Are you with me?
So I’m thrilled that the fine folks at Subb’s BBQ have offered up some suggestions to help us use our leftovers…but in different ways every time!
I mean, THAT is what we SHOULD have done, right? We totally should have barbecued our turkey! I will need to remember that for next year…
How about we start out with a new twist to an old favorite: Turkey Pot Pie
Just under a week until Thanksgiving, my FAVORITE holiday! Are you ready?!
I’m hitting the “excited” stretch now. I’ve been looking down the barrel of “I have WAY too much to get done before Thanksgiving” for a few weeks now, but at this point, I think I’m fairly set! And I’m here to share a few helps with you so you can be fairly set, too!
My parents are in town for a week and a half, so of course, I needed to make sure my house was ready for them!
Here’s how to make sure YOU are ready for house guests, too!
And just like that, it’s NOVEMBER. Let me tell you, October has FLOWN by for me! Has it for you, too? WOW!
Next we have my FAVORITE holiday: Thanksgiving! Wohoo!
But before we get to all of that, let’s look back at the top 5 posts here on the blog for the month of October, shall we?
Have you made YOUR Thanksgiving menu yet? It IS November, after all!
If you were with me here last year on the blog, you will remember that I took an entire week and did a series called “The Tastiest Thanksgiving EVER!”
A great group of my blogger pals all submitted their favorite Thanksgiving recipe, and there were photos and printables galore! It was fantastic!
So this year, since there are so many new people here along The Road to Domestication (hi there, newbies!), I figured that I’d remind everyone about the series, and give all the links to those posts and recipes in one spot! How about that?! As a matter of fact, I have literally prepared your entire Thanksgiving menu for you, right here! (Well, except for the turkey!)
So let’s get going!
Happy First Day of Fall, all!
First of all, I LOVE this season – it really is my favorite!!! Second of all, it’s kinda hard to get into Fall here in Florida (the high today is slated to be 86…which is about 10 degrees cooler than highs last week…so maybe we’re getting there…but probably not!) But I don’t let the heat and humidity outside hamper the “feeling of Fall” that I like to create inside! And all of that starts with the Holiday Shelf.
If you look from left to right, you can see where I represent Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then just Fall in general. I’ve not really want to split up the decoration occasions for the shelf, because then we can’t enjoy it for any length of time. Plus, I’m not a huge Halloween fan. (Don’t shoot me.)
I snagged this cute gourd and pumpkin pair at Michael’s!
