Well, I may be a bit behind the band wagon on this one, but let’s talk about spring cleaning! Have y’all started on yours yet?! I’m just getting going on this end!
The thing about spring cleaning is, it’s easy to run out of your supplies pretty quickly once you get in the groove. So when Stewart from The Rug Seller contacted me about some spring cleaning hacks…oh yes! Bring it on!
Have you met our Taffy?
I love this first pic of her because she’s so happy, but I love this second pic of her, too…just because she’s a very pretty dog, to be perfectly honest!
I feel like I start every one of these posts with the same kind of phrasing: “I can’t believe we’ve already gone through another month.”
But it’s TRUE! And here we are, having just finished out the first quarter of 2015. If you have a goal for this year, folks, get it done! Times a wastin’!
Lots happening here on the blog in the past month! Without further ado, here are the top posts:
1. More Reasons to Love Hometalk – I’m telling y’all, if you haven’t started using Hometalk, you’re missing out! Which is evident by the number of views on THIS post!
I have a confession to make.
I. LOVE. TO. CLEAN.
It’s true. I don’t know what it is that makes me love to clean, but I do adore it! There’s not much I enjoy more than sitting down in my home when it’s spotless and smelling of citrus and cleaning products. (Well…sitting down for a MOMENT…before I see something else that needs cleaning or taking care of!)
And people who come to the house often tell me, “Your house is SO clean. Just wait until you have kids. It’ll never look like this again.”
Part of me agrees with them. But part of me thinks that the kids need to be taught to clean, too! My mom taught my sister and I to clean when we were tiny! And as I worked my way through college as a nanny for triplet boys, plus their baby brother, you can believe that those boys were taught how to clean, too!
So when the lovely Sofia Lewis contacted me with this post, I couldn’t stand it. FINALLY! Spring Cleaning…WITH KIDS! Perfect! (Since I don’t know about where YOU are, but around here, it’s Spring Break!)
Let’s see how she approaches it!
With spring coming our way, you will need to focus on cleaning your home after the winter days behind you. There are ways you can do this with your kids in tow, both having fun together and getting the job done without too much effort involved in the process. If you handle most of the heavy stuff, you will have a decent time both teaching your children a valuable lesson and making sure you have fun along the way!
- Using music to set the mood
We are all aware that music can give us plenty of energy to deal with our days, but you would do well to consider using it while doing domestic cleaning to give you that extra oomph you will need to get the job done. You can combine cleaning with a game of “wax museum” to put play and work together seamlessly, having them freeze when the music stops.
So you’ve probably been a little focused on spring cleaning. You may have even gotten a bit of cleaning done over the long Easter weekend, eh?
A major part of spring cleaning is organizing…you know, so the clean STAYS clean! So when Ella from Moving Van contacted me and asked about a guest post on storage, I figured it was the perfect time to hear more! Here’s what she had to say:
While there are many different shapes and sizes of storage space, few are more economical and inclusive than a cubicle-type setup. So what does this mean exactly? Basically you will save money through using astorage space that is smaller yet contains lots of squares, or cubes. Any other shape is counterproductive as it won’t lend a way of sustaining neatness.
Once you’ve designated the space, it’s then advisable to supply your own set of shelves. Specifically, these shelves should come in the form of compact cubicles without too much space in between them. These can be bought relatively cheap and locally at furniture stores.
