I’ve been trying to eat super healthy these days, of course, to make sure the twins are getting the nutrients they need. So far it seems to be working! Hopefully things continue to progress well!
But in all my research about good pregnancy nutrition, I keep seeing points about “super foods”. And some of those points are just a tad bit confusing, I must say. So when Daisy Grace offered to flesh things out for me, and even included some recipes to boot, well – PERFECT!

Among the top healthy lifestyle tips: eat more super foods. Although it may sound like a hoax, super foods are a real category. Comprised of foods that are loaded with nutrients essential for living a healthy life (but that also lack unfavorable nutrients like saturated fat,) super foods are like all-in-one nutritious powerhouses. They tend to boost your immune system, improve your heart health, and give you energy.
Many super foods are also great to add to a diet for weight loss since these foods have healthful nutrients and do not tend to be fattening or heavy on carbohydrates. You can turn many super foods into great snacks as well, making them convenient.

It’s no secret to anyone who follows this blog that I have Celiac Disease. And, if you’ve been around long enough, you know that Van’s is one of my favorite brands of gluten-free foods! They really were a lifesaver for me when I was first diagnosed – and they’re still extremely helpful…most recently in the throes of morning sickness!
So the fact that May is Celiac Awareness Month makes it the perfect time to share food options for those with gluten sensitivity! And that’s exactly what Van’s is doing, offering an opportunity to try its NEW gluten-free granola and snack bars, and get in on a giveaway event valued at more than $150!
Van’s, a leader in wholesome new snacks sure to satisfy the kid in everyone, kicks off summer with two new snack bars (Banana Bread and Gramwich- a chocolate stuffed graham cracker sandwich) and Soft-Baked Whole Grain Granola Clusters in Double Chocolate and Banana Nut.
Van’s decadent, bite-sized gluten-free granola – perfect for family road trips, an easy addition to breakfast or anytime on the go – are a soft and chewy portable snack perfect with frozen or Greek yogurt or by the handful when a craving hits. The Double Chocolate and Banana Nut Granola is baked with delicious, gluten-free, whole grain oats and offer 12-14 grams of whole grains per serving – with no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

It’s a busy life these days, isn’t it? Especially as we’re gearing up to finish out this school year! We’re always running to an important event, toting along the littles in our lives, and, although they normally go with the flow pretty well, every once in a while a drink or a snack is needed. If proper planning has fallen by the wayside, frazzled caregivers find it easiest to run through a drive-through and grab something for the hungry monsters, and while that meets the need in the moment, it defeats the purpose of raising healthy kids in the future!
I worked my way through college as a nanny for triplet boys, plus their baby brother. Snacks were a BIG deal! And the bigger the boys grew, the bigger their snacking appetites got! Sure, it was nice to have milk and cookies ready for them after school…but there are so many more healthy options that really are a lot more FUN! Today I want to share with you three options that can be as healthy but still as easy as you want them to be! Are you ready?
- Apple, Peanut Butter & Granola Sandwiches
What you need: green or red apples, peanut butter, granola
We love to have people over to our home. It’s just one of those things, I guess. Our feeling is that God gave us this home, and so we feel led to share it with others! That may mean a simple dinner, or a weekend stay, or a place to crash in tough times, or a variety of other things. Regardless of the circumstances, our doors are always open!
So you can imagine that I like to be prepared for whatever may come, right? (If you have been with me here on the blog for ANY amount of time, you KNOW that’s the truth! Ha!) In lieu of that fact, I wanted to share a few thoughts about having house guests.
What I Do
Keep lots of linens on hand! I never want anyone to feel like they have to ration the amount of towels in the bathroom. If you need a towel for your hair, one for your body and one for…well…I can’t think of something else, so whatever you may need another one for, you will always find them in our guest bathroom. Extra pillows are good, in case yours aren’t the same as theirs, and they need some extra cushion comfort. And extra blankets are good, too, in case anyone gets cold!
