Which Home Security Option Suits Your Needs?

Right before our girls were born, we called a local home security company and had a security alarm installed in our home. Safety suddenly became of utmost importance to us, for some reason! Ha!

When we moved into our current home, one of the first things we did was have the security system that was already here in the home activated. At that point, we just went with the technology that was already installed and added a few touches to it.

What Kind Of Home Alarm Monitoring Suits You Best?

One of the first things to take into consideration when choosing a security system is which kind of alarm monitoring suits your needs the best. Monitoring is the heart of every home alarm system. Safe Eco-friendly Home Cleaning Tips

Someone shared a local news article with me a couple days ago. The article said that being a mom was equivalent to working two-and-a-half full-time jobs.

WOW. I’m not sure I’ve ever tried to compare it in that manner, but it makes sense. What do you think of that assessment?

I know one thing: moms do a lot to make sure that everyone comes back to a clean home on a routine basis. Deep cleaning may be employed weekly, monthly or quarterly, but mostly during the spring season.

However, the chemicals that are used might have toxic effects on the environment. For this reason, there is need to find routine cleaning tips that are eco-friendly.

Family Safety: 4 Aftermarket Car Safety Products You Should Get!

Most of you know that my husband has worked for Geico for almost 10 years now. Throughout his time with the company, he has held a variety of positions, but right now, he is actually a trainer managing a class of new employees who are learning the work of the claims department. So you can only imagine who’s voice I hear in my head while I’m driving, right?!

“The individual backing up in an accident is always at fault!”

“If you were keeping a proper lookout, that never would have happened.”

“Kristen, ALWAYS HIT THE ANIMAL. It’s WAY cheaper to hit a squirrel than hit another car because you were trying to avoid the squirrel.”

You get the idea.

Something else he has always drilled into my head is that the more safety features your vehicle has, the more discounts you can get on your insurance premium! Free advice, folks.

But what I did NOT know was that you can actually ADD IN some of those safety features!

If you’re not ready to buy a new car or recently bought a new car without some of the pricier features, you can still add aftermarket safety products to keep you and your family safe. As safe driving expert and blogger Alex Perdikis explains, roads are becoming safer, but it’s up to drivers to make sure their cars are safe. Here are four safety car add-ons you use right now.

Carpet Cleaning for Homes with Babies

If you’re a regular follower here on the blog, you know I LOVE things around my home to be clean. It’s a lot harder now to get that clean feeling than it used to be before the babies arrived, but it’s still very possible! In fact, one of the best gifts I was given after we brought the twins home was a maid service to come in and give our home a deep cleaning from top to bottom! My goodness, it was FANTASTIC!!! I mean, I really enjoy cleaning myself, but I wasn’t able to, so why not bring in some professionals?

These days, we’re staring down the barrel of the “crawling” stage. At almost 5 months old, the twins are now enjoying tummy time instead of getting angry about it, and even doing a bit of rocking on their knees and similar “right before crawling” poses – they’ll be mobile before we know it! With that in mind, I’ve been trying to find someone to come in and sanitize all the floors completely. That way, I can maintain their cleanliness, but I know from the get-go that I started off with something perfectly clean and fresh!

So when Kevin from Chem-Dry contacted me about their cleaning process, I was impressed, to say the least. And schooled, as well! Turns out I didn’t know much about carpet cleaning. But never fear – Kevin is here to give us all the details and help us to decide what works best for our home!

There is nothing more exciting than bringing a new baby home from the hospital! It’s a wonderful event for a home and a family. But, it can be stressful, too, and you have to be prepared. Especially if you are a brand new parent! Do you have the crib put together? Is the nursery decorated? Did you buy enough diapers and clothing and wipes and…

…the list goes on and on and on. It’s overwhelming, and that’s not all!

There is one important thing that’s not even on the list that you will want to complete as soon as possible: professional carpet cleaning.

Deep carpet cleaning probably isn’t one of the first things that come to mind when preparing to bring home a baby from the hospital. It’s not as important as the car seat, but it is a very good idea. Dirty carpets contain a lot of allergens, germs, contaminants and yucky stuff you won’t want to subject your newborn baby too. Your baby will spend a lot of time on or near the floor and carpet not long after you bring him or her home. You will want the floor to be as clean and as safe as humanly possible.

Is Carpet Cleaning Safe for Babies?

First of all, we do not recommend rental machines or DIY solutions. Misuse of a rental machine can lead to damage of your carpet or danger from chemicals, and most DIY solutions are ineffective at removing deep, embedded dirt. Trust a professional service when it comes to cleaning your carpet, especially with a newborn in the house.
