A Winner…and a Crock Pot Steak Dinner!

First of all, the winner of the $30 Amazon gift card to celebrate the third birthday of The Road to Domestication…Zoe Monteleone! Zoe, send me an email to Kristen@theroadtodomestication and I will hook you up!

And now…

When I saw the words “Crock Pot Steak Dinner!” on Pinterest last week, I was surprised and rather doubtful. While I’ve seen some amazing things done with a crock pot, an entire steak dinner…all in one crock pot?

I decided to try it. I mean, it couldn’t be that bad, right? I break out the crock pot every Sunday night and prep for Monday’s dinner. Around here, Mondays tend to be kind of rough, so it’s always nice to come home after a stressful day and walk in the house to the smell of a finished dinner!

Here’s the instructions:

  • Line the bottom of the crock pot with foil
  • Place a thick (at least 3/4-inch) steak in the bottom, and cover with at least 1/2 cup of steak sauce (my husband will only use A1 at our house!)
  • Add another layer of foil
  • Add in potatoes (foil wrapped) and FROZEN corn cobs (foil wrapped)

Entire Steak Dinner...in the Crock Pot!

So basically, as you can see, at this point it looks like a crock pot full of foil!

A Lil’ Garden Update!

One of my big plans for our backyard is to have three (LARGE) raised beds full of vegetables! I’m working on introducing more and more veggies into every meal; sometimes even “hidden” in places my husband would not expect, ha! (Do you have to do that, too?!)

However, I’m still working a full-time job, running my own business on the side and doing this lil’ blog…so I don’t have all the time in the world to cultivate a huge garden right now. And I’m really good at overwhelming myself with too much to do! So I wanted to start VERY small – see what grows well in our yard and in our climate…and, let’s face it…see what I DON’T kill!

So, as of right now, I have three things growing. Yes, just three! But they’re all growing WELL, so that’s the idea, right?

1. Tomatoes – There are SO many of them – just clusters and clusters! I can’t wait to slice these up with some fresh mozzarella and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar!
