On Comparing Planners – Erin Condren vs. Plum Paper

**PLEASE NOTE**

There are tons of digital ways to plan and schedule life these days. And, contrary to what you might think, I would LOVE to go digital in my planning. I really would! In fact, I used to BE a digital planner…until that fateful day when my computer calendar didn’t sync with my email or my phone, and I didn’t realize it. Well, I didn’t realize it until I had already missed two meetings and let down an excellent client. At that point, I decided to trust good ol’ pen and paper once more, and, no matter how much wishful digital planning thinking I do, I just can’t get past the fact that a sync might not happen once more. I just can’t do it.

So, a couple years back, I decided that, if I was going to do old-fashioned pen and paper planner, I wanted it to be fun and pretty and colorful! I wanted to be able to mark important events in style, and sometimes use the planner as more of a journal when it came to specific events. In lieu of all that, I purchased an Erin Condren planner.

A HUGE Planner GIVEAWAY!

plannergiveawayFEAT

In the midst of getting the twins through their first cold (poor baby girls!) and my hubby being out of town for work (it’s been a bit chaotic around our house!) I wanted to pop by and share a fun giveaway with all of you!

Let me preface this by saying: I’m a fan of a paper planner. I’ve been that way since that one time that my Google calendars didn’t sync properly, and I didn’t know they didn’t sync properly, and I ended up missing several appointments. Back to paper it was, and I’ve been like that ever since!

So when I had the opportunity to participate in an actual paper planner (and goodies!) giveaway, well. You know I had to! And I knew all of you would love the opportunity to win, too!

Best Gardening Tips for 2016

Most of you know that I’m what I like to call an “experimenting gardener”. When it comes to gardening, I love to see what I can grow…and I what I simply CANNOT. Living in Central Florida, I’ve been doing pretty well, but there’s always room for improvement! For instance…

I’ve been purchasing lots of my seeds from Amazon, when I can’t find them in my local area. My October sowing was no different – I purchased some spinach seeds from Amazon, because I LOVE spinach, and I was excited about having a bunch of it on hand!

You can see it here in the background of this pic…

Except this was about the same time that my parents were down for Thanksgiving, and my mom, while studying my garden, pointed to my spinach and said, “What’s that?”

“It’s spinach!” I exclaimed, a little taken aback that she didn’t know.

“That’s not spinach,” she said firmly.

On Prepping for a Busy Season!

I know, I know. You saw the word “season” and you think I’m already talking about the holidays. Well, no, not specifically.

I’m talking about those time when you can see “busy” approaching on the horizon. Where you look ahead on the calendar and realize that next month is going to be NUTS. You’re instantly overwhelmed and not at all sure if you’ll make it through or not. How do you deal with that?

In the months of October, November and December, I literally slash my prices for my photography business in half. People are wanting photos for Christmas cards, and family is in town for those extended-family shots, and I feel that everyone should be able to capture memories for a reasonable price! In a normal month I do anywhere from 3-5 photo shoots, but in these three months I literally do DOZENS. Did I mention part of the deal is a less-than-a-week turnaround? Oh, and that I’m still working a full-time job and maintaining this blog while I’m doing all these photo shoots? Yeah. “BUSY” is the word!

**Warning – I’m inserting a shameless promo: Check out my photography website by clicking here!**

So in September, I start prepping for the crazy that will become my life in the next three months. And I thought I’d share a few tips with everyone on Prepping for a Busy Season, just in case you see some crazy coming your way!

1. Plan FAR in advance

You may feel silly planning three months down the road, but trust me. When things start happening quickly, and it’s hard to think straight because there’s so much going on, you will be SO glad you did!

On Planning the Night Before

I’ve never been a morning person. Not even a little bit. I’ve always been a night owl, and if it was a busy week, I would always opt for staying up late to get things done rather than getting up early to accomplish the same. But the more I did that, the more I realized that pre-planning the night before really makes for a smoother tomorrow!

On Planning the Night Before

So, here’s what I do the night before…the night before any particular day, really!
