Make a Difference in the Lives of a Vet – with VetDogs Treats!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend, all! No, I normally don’t post over the weekend, but this post is a special one!

Now, let me clarify: I DO know the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day, never fear. (Just in case any of YOU don’t, Memorial Day is the day when we honor those who have fallen while serving our country. Veteran’s Day is the day when we honor those who have served our country, and are still among us.) While this IS Memorial Day Weekend, what I’m about to tell you about is closely related – and a great cause to get involved in!

Of what do I speak?

A Patriotic Summer Holiday Shelf!

Happy Memorial Day, everyone!

I’ve always said that I come from a military family. No, neither of my parents served, but my grandfather did, as well as an aunt, two uncles and three cousins. Hey, I could sing the entire Marine Corps Anthem by the time I was two years old, thanks to my grandfather! (And yes, I can still sing it…no YouTube video for your viewing pleasure, unfortunately!)

Happy Memorial Day!

When Jerrod and I got married, I discovered that he came from a military family, too. Both of his grandfathers, plus three uncles and two cousins.

Happy Memorial Day!

Our military family members: Uncles, Aunts and Cousins!

Memorial Day is the first military holiday of the year, and then will come Independence Day, and after that, Veteran’s Day. All of these are summer-related here in Florida, even thought Veteran’s Day isn’t until November…it’s normally still pretty durn hot here. So this year, when I was thinking about what I was going to do with my holiday shelf, I thought I should take it completely and personally patriotic, just in time for Memorial Day.

Keep in mind that today (Memorial Day) is meant to honor those who gave their lives in battle for our country. Can you even imagine?! The thought alone is sobering, to say the least. Our families were fortunate in that none of our own were killed in the line of duty, however, we hold those who gave the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf very dear to our hearts. If YOU have a family member who gave all, please know: our respect and honor is with your family today!
