Kitchen Countertop Comparison

One of the things on our never-ending list of things to do around our house (does everyone have one of those lists, or is it just US?!) is to update our kitchen! We haven’t done this yet for several reasons:

  2. While there ARE faults in the cabinets and blemishes on the countertops, they can be hidden
  3. All of the appliances were already brand new when we bought the house (which will be two years ago next month), so they don’t need replacing yet

However, if you follow me on Pinterest, or Hometalk or Houzz, you will see areas dedicated JUST to my redo ideas for the kitchen.

And there are things I KNOW that I want. Like double ovens. (Can you imagine?!) And a big ol’ island. And shiny light fixtures. And non-white cabinets…because my current white ones get dirty SO easily.

But one thing that I have had the hardest time deciding on is what kind of counter tops I want! At first I wanted granite,  but then I thought maybe that was a bit too much maintenance. So quartz, I thought – I think it’s pretty! But isn’t that more expensive? What about that gorgeous white marble that’s coming back into style?!

I finally decided that I really had no idea what I wanted, and that would be the hardest part when it was time to redo the kitchen. Until Matt from Drury Designs contacted me and wanted to know if I wanted to share an infographic with all of you called “Kitchen Countertop Surfaces”. WHAT?! I had to go look at it immediately! And once I did, I knew you would want to see it, too! So check it out…

Thanks for sharing this one with us, Matt! Well, I don’t know if I should thank him or not…NOW I’m wondering about soapstone! HA! Which one is YOUR favorite? What do you have in your kitchen right now?
