And welcome to The Road to Domestication in the year 2018, folks! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s with friends and family! Let’s dive right in now, shall we?
I FINALLY feel like I’ve got my office together in the new house. (I keep saying “new house” – we moved here in May, can I still say that?) Anyways, it’s taken me that long to get everything arranged in the office (and decorate in there) the way I want it so I can walk in the door and breathe a sigh of peace instead of one filled with frustration. Thank goodness! It was starting to weigh on me!
One of the hardest things of having a home office that you actually do work out of is getting it to “feel right”. Know what I mean? This part of your home literally has to run differently than the rest of your home does, and sometimes that creates issues in work flow. So when Marie Nieves contacted me regarding a post about a redecorating a home office even when it is SMALL, well, that struck a chord. Check out her ideas!
Ugh, do you ever feel like you need one whole floor to organize all your office furniture, electronics, supplies and decoration? Well, I did, every day, until I realized what I’m doing wrong with my humble office space. All you need is good designing and decorating skills and even the smallest of spaces can feel and look spacious and airy. Here are some examples!
Do you ever wonder about the blogger as you read a blog post? For instance, do you ever wonder where I am when I’m working on this blog, or what my workspace might look like? I wonder those kinds of things all the time, and one of my favorite types of posts is a blogger sharing their home or workplace! I really enjoy seeing them in their element!
Well, Emma from WeWork contacted me last week and asked me to share a bit about my workspace! (WeWork is a co-working company with tons of resources for small businesses! Being the owner of a small business, I can appreciate that they offer everything from access to investors and conference rooms to production suites and lounges. If you don’t have a home office, or even if you do, and you need something more advanced…WeWork is for you! What an innovation!)
Funny, as much as I enjoy seeing that kind of thing from other bloggers, it never entered my mind to do it for my readers myself! So I took Emma up on her suggestion – may I present to you all, my home office…
You’ll probably notice one particular thing right off the bat: we like Coke. Actually, it’s my husband who likes Coke and collects the Coke stuff – I just thought a neat place for us to display all of it was in the office! And since my photography business stuff is all black and white, the red goes with it nicely!
On the left…
Ah, the age of convenience! Or that’s what they call it, right? This “modern era” that we are currently experiencing?
If you stop and think about all the things that are possible right now that were never possible in the past…well. It’s pretty mind-boggling. And it can also be intimidating or even scary for some folks.
But I’m here to say: there is SO much to take advantage of! Why not make the most of it?
So I want to see if you are making the most of the devices in your home. These are options that are meant to be used to save you time, money and sanity! Let’s look at a few examples:
