The 2017 Fall Holiday Shelf!

I. LOVE. FALL.

I always have, ever since I can remember. And I still love it this year, too. But for some reason, this year I had a really hard time decorating for the Fall season like I normally do! Maybe it’s that we’re in a new house, and I have to revamp where I’m putting everything. Maybe it’s because I have two toddling helpers who follow me everywhere I go. Maybe it’s because it’s still so dadgum HOT outside. I’m not sure.

But I finally got my Holiday Shelf done!!! Woot woot! So here it is!

Can you tell I had trouble with it?! HA!

It’s a little bit different than normal…somehow. I still feel like it is. But I really wanted to use these sweet little deer because we kind of live in the country now, and I thought they were a neat reflection of that.

Festive Ways for Warm-Weather Families to Have a Cold-Weather Christmas

Okay, okay, calm down, calm down. I’m not “starting in on Christmas” already. Well, not really. But y’all know that here in Florida, it does NOT feel like Fall quite yet. Even though yesterday WAS the first day of Fall, the temperature on my back deck read 91 degrees, with a “feels-like” temperature of 95. I kid you not. Does that give you festive warm Fall fuzzies? Yeah, me neither.

FESTIVE WAYS

But there ARE things I do this time of the year to try and help it FEEL more like Fall in Florida. Fall foods. Fall scents. Fall decor. You’ll actually get to see lots of that here on the blog over the next few weeks.

And all this “trying to make it feel like Fall” got me thinking. When it’s 70 degrees in Florida in December and we’re “trying to get it to feel like Christmas”, what on earth will we do then?!

If you live in a warm-weather state like California, Arizona, Hawaii or Florida, you may gaze wistfully at your friends’ winter time photos on social media of their snow-covered lawns and their rosy-faced kids making snowmen.

While you are eager to get into the holiday spirit, you find yourself wishing that the weather would magically cool off in Tucson or Tampa and that you could experience a true White Christmas.

Fortunately, there are a number of ways that you can create a festive and chilly Christmas season — at least one that looks that way.

It’s Time for Fall…Inside our Home!

A million thanks to At Home, for partnering with all of us on this Fall Home Tour! #myreason

You may have heard me say that Fall is my favorite. Well, it’s true. I LOVE FALL. But, if there is one downfall of living in Florida, it’s that Fall is pretty hard to come by. I mean, seriously. It’s the beginning of October, and our highs are still in the 90’s. Yeah.

So, when it comes to my love for Fall, I have to make the season change INSIDE my house. That’s #myreason for doing all this Fall decorating! When the calendar proclaims it Fall, I start baking all things pumpkin. I change my candles and soaps to Fall scents. Hey, I would even crank our air conditioner down if my husband would let me!

So, if you wanna see, do come along with me for a tour of Fall…inside our home!

First of all, welcome to our home!

It’s your standard 4 bedroom 2 bath house, in a cozy little development where we know our neighbors, and the resident kids play football in our front yard because it’s the biggest!

The 2016 Fall Holiday Shelf!

Well, it’s been a while, folks! I know it’s the first day of Fall, and I’ve been pretty quiet. No worries, I’m still around – my days are simply full of poop and formula and naps and…BABIES!

The girls are doing so well! They actually just moved off the preemie charts onto the “regular baby” charts, and their pediatrician (and their mom and dad, of course) are thrilled with how well they’re progressing! We are so thankful!

But another thing I’m thankful for is FALL. If you’ve been around the blog at all, you know I LOVE FALL! It’s my favorite season, and I really talk it up. Especially in Florida. Where it’s still 90 degrees during the Fall, I HAVE to talk it up, right?!

Sooo…Happy FIRST DAY OF FALL to everyone! In honor of this blessed season, I wanted to share with you nothing less than my 2016 Fall Holiday Shelf! (Because giving birth to twin girls one-and-a-half-months early is no excuse for NOT decorating for Fall! At least around our house!) When this time of the year rolls around, it’s still #myreason for jumping into the season of decorating!

And I’m totally stoked to share this particular shelf design because the elements came from the awesome folks of At Home!

Now, if you’ve never been to an At Home store, stop right now, head over to www.athome.com and check it out! It’s like an enormous warehouse full of all things wonderful for your home, inside and out! Check out what I found for the shelf…

Don’t you LOVE the “coastal” look? (I mean, kinda paying tribute to the lovely state where I live with these Fall accents, right?)
