I’ve always paid attention to light fixtures, especially any kind of chandelier. I’m not really sure why. They just seem to catch my eye. Everywhere, really. But lots of times in the homes of friends and family. So it goes to reason that they’re pretty important in our home, as well.
We changed quite a few light fixtures in our last home, and I imagine we’ll do the same in this one. As far as I’m concerned, it’s an easy way to put a custom stamp on a house, and these days, there are more options than ever before!
For instance, if you are aiming to give your dining room a makeover, (like I will be doing once ours is no longer a 1-year-old twin playroom) one of the most important aspects to consider is the lighting. If you get the effect right, it really adds to the ambience of the space. Many people opt for a chandelier as a stand-out lighting feature in a dining room. Chandeliers can certainly be a great talking point, and you are not limited to just traditional versions.
You can choose from a wide variety of chandeliers for your home. Then all you need to do is look for expert electrical services, to help ensure that the chandelier you choose is expertly installed. (Or at least that’s what WE do. We are NOT DIYers when it comes to electrical stuff…we know our limits!)

Happy August, all! As always, when we reach the beginning of the new month, I like to take a look back on the top posts from the previous month! So, here are the top five posts here on The Road to Domestication during the month of July!
1. DIY Summer Wreath – I’m glad this one made the list! I had a lot of fun creating this!
Some of you may remember this post (CLICK HERE) from EXACTLY a year ago today. (Woah. I didn’t realize it had been exactly a year until I looked at it – that’s kinda freaky!) ANYWAY, some of you may remember my “My Discouraging Dining Dilemma” post. I wasn’t sure what to do with my Dining Room! Have you ever been there with a room? Lots of ideas, but you’re not sure what will work, and you’re not a professional, so you’re scared to mess something up? Hello! Welcome to my life! HA!
Well, I think I’ve FINALLY finished our Dining Room! So I wanted to share with everyone!
Are you ready?!
Here’s the “before”…
…and here’s the “after”.
Well, I’m not all that discouraged yet…I was just trying to come up with a cool title!
But I AM frustrated. Here’s why:
I haven’t done much with the decor in the dining room since we moved into the house in April. Reason being: 1. It’s not a large room, so it doesn’t need much, because I don’t want to overwhelm it with stuff, I just want it to be a few very perfect-for-the-room things that currently I can’t find and 2. Since I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for, I can’t find it!
Case in point – here’s the dining room:
