Most of our festivities happened yesterday on Christmas Eve, so if you drop by our house today, you’ll most likely find the hubby and I snuggling on the couch with CoCo the Black Kitty and Taffy the White Doggie with some kind of movie marathon going on! Normally we are with my side of the family on Christmas Day, but this is the first Christmas we’ve celebrated since half of my family have moved away, and the other half are celebrating about 4 hours north of us – so we’re making it a super quiet one this year.
I hope you stopped by today because you had a quiet moment in between friends and family and gatherings and wanted to be nosy and see what I was up to…
…but if you stopped by because you’re lonely and maybe even a little bit sad because Christmas just isn’t what you dreamed it to be this year, please allow me to share this with you. It’s the reason for the season…it’s the reason for all of our celebrations. And I hope and pray that it brings you the peace you’re looking for on this special day. You are loved! And much faith, hope and joy is wished for you on this day!
Due to the amount of comments from all of my wonderful readers, it is not always possible for me to respond to each one. However, I absolutely do read them all, and if you’d like to address something specific, or have a question for me, please don’t hesitate to email me at Kristen@theroadtodomestication.com. I will respond to your email as soon as possible! Thank you for visiting the blog!
Well, it’s the day before Christmas Eve, and I think I’m pretty much all set. I won’t lie, a few things didn’t work as I wanted them to, and I probably stayed up too late a few nights trying to pull things together, but that’s the excitement of Christmas, right?!
I mean, the holiday season is always an exciting time! You get to decorate your house with sparkling lights, sort through your ornament collection, and sing along to festive music. But more than that, you get to come together with friends and family to reflect on the past year and count your blessings.
If you’re planning on hosting a holiday get together this year and don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen, there are plenty of options that will impress your guests. For example, a cheese platter.
Cheese platters are versatile, allow you to get creative, and don’t have to be kept warm. To help you craft the perfect cheese platter, my friends at FTD created a guide detailing cheese types and cheese tools. The guide also gives suggestions for the best accompaniments, so you can make sure to create a platter that everyone will enjoy!
My sweet hubby put our outdoor Christmas decorations up over the weekend, and he did a really great job – they look fantastic!
But, as the ever-cautious wife that I am, when he was getting started and planning things out, I was a little bit concerned. Because he had big plans. Bigger than in years past. Like…there was talk of blow-up light-up lawn decor. Yes. Concerned I was. Because I didn’t want our yard to look TACKY. BLECH. I can’t stand tacky!
In the end, he ended up doing a nice combination of white and colored LED lights – just the right amount, and nothing is flashing in a seizure-inducing manner. WIN!
(He was probably trying to get a rise out of me with the talk of the blow-up light-up yard ornaments anyays!)
So, how’s it looking at your house these days? Tree up? Decorations about? Presents arranged? This is one of my favorite times of year! And I think one aspect of this time of year that I especially love is the Christmas ornaments. Sure, we have some that are just there for proper color and theme and style…but there are important keepsakes hanging on those tree branches, too! It’s a great way to display and even protect the little things that mean so much. Which is why I love the idea of “stuffing” an ornament!
You know those clear ball ornaments that you can purchase from your local craft store? That’s what I’m talking about! And I’m seeing LOTS of ways you can use them in your Christmas decor, too! Check out these ideas…
Stuff with Your Wedding Invitation
I pinned this Christmas ornament idea from Christy over at ChristyRobbins, and I actually made two of these for our tree myself! One with the invitation for our wedding and one with the invitation for our reception!
