Fantastic Lego Ideas for Your Kiddo’s Bedroom!

Did you play with any fantastic Lego toys growing up? I did, but they weren’t nearly as big of a deal then as they are now! I mean, my goodness – not 45 minutes away from my house there’s a theme park called Legoland!

Here are some fun facts about Legos for ya:

There are 2,200 different elements of Legos (or types of pieces)
Approximately 19 BILLION Lego elements are manufactured each year, or, 2 million per hour, or, 36,000 per minute
Lego elements come in 55 different colors
Lego bricks are made in Billund, Denmark

Interesting, eh? I know a LOT of kids who are VERY interested in Legos these days, and I’m sure mine will be soon enough, so when Jenny from Terry’s Fabrics contacted me with an infographic full of ideas on how to turn a kid’s bedroom into something magically Lego-themed, I figured you all would want to see this!

Making Memories: 6 Beautiful and Family-Friendly Backyard Ideas!

The twins are now 7 months old, and I FINALLY feel like I’m getting control of my house again! I mean, MERCY! I knew I’d be off my game for a while, but I didn’t realize it would be for THIS LONG! Don’t get me wrong – they are SO worth being off my game for! Nonetheless, I’m thrilled to be back on track.

Inside, that is. I’m back on track on the INSIDE of the house.

Every time I drive up to our house I see a million things I need to handle. Does anyone else do that, or is it just me? And that’s just in the front!

When I look at the back yard, I’m completely overwhelmed.

We have a very large back yard, for which I am so grateful. It’s nicely fenced with a pretty white privacy fence, and we even have a few things like a pineapple bed, a garden, and several different spots in which to sit – a picnic table by the garden, a screened-in porch and a brick patio.

But my mind has been turning with ways we can make it kid-friendly, since, before I know it, the girls will be running around out there! (Already one of their most favorite activities is to be outside rolling around on a blanket!)

So when blogger Chloe Taylor contacted me with just that, a post of family-friendly backyard ideas, I knew it was fate! And when it comes to ideas, Chloe has some awesome ones!

Kids absolutely love spending time outdoors; running around and exploring the world. But what if you simply can’t find the time to organize family walks or visits to the playground? Well, what better way to satisfy your kids’ curiosity and adventurous spirit than your own backyard? Of course, the key is in creating a fun and an enticing place for your family, so that kids can play to their heart’s content and stay safe. Play at a young age is a child’s process of learning, which is why you should seriously consider the following ideas for your own family-friendly backyard.

Creating a Child-Friendly Floor Space

Well, I’ve talked a lot about floors here on the blog. I guess it’s because I love all things home, and floors are a HUGE part of the home! But something I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned before here in my posts is that I used to work for a daycare.

Well…kinda.

I worked for a daycare for 2 weeks over Christmas break when I was home for college. One of the teachers wanted a nice long Christmas break, and I needed the work, so I did what I had to do! Can I just say that I have TONS of respect for those who work with littles on a daily basis! It was a great learning experience, that’s for sure!

But a space like a daycare should be full of things for kids, right? Right! And to this day, I will never forget that old ugly rug that was in my classroom. It was dull. It was grody. It looked like it belonged in an adult daycare instead of a child’s daycare. I hated that thing from the first day I went inside, and I was glad I never had to see it again when I was done with the job!

So when Georgia from The Rug Seller contacted me about an infographic of child-friendly floor spaces, I was shocked at the memories it brought back! And once I looked at the image, I knew that these suggestions were exactly what kiddos need! Check it out…

Like a Child

This post is an introspective one. It has nothing to do with cooking or organizing or cleaning…just life. I hope you enjoy it!

Another day filled with time frames, to-do lists and appointments. I wondered how I suddenly had so much to do? Funny how one day you just wake up and realize, oh my gosh, I’m an adult. Adult responsibilities, adult expectations, adult everything…I always thought it was so far away, so out of reach. Yet, there I was. There were things to be accomplished, and most importantly, on that day, errands to run.

As I maneuvered smoothly into the parking spot closest to the door, I checked the clock and smiled in utter satisfaction. Seven a.m. sharp. Perfect. I would be one of the first customers in the store. I assumed the product I was after would be to the far left and almost on the back wall. No problem. I would breeze in and out in absolutely no more than five minutes.
