I’m not sure where you live, but it’s definitely SUMMER where we are! Temps are in the 90’s each day, and each day I try to decide whether it’s too hot to walk the girls down to the mailbox in their stroller or not. (It’s about half a mile down to our mailbox). That is, of course, if it isn’t pouring buckets of rain already. Yes, it’s definitely summer here in Central Florida!
With the temps alone it stands to reason that July is actually National Ice Cream Month! While our family would celebrate this event EVERY month with no problem, Graeter’s is having an especially big celebration, because they’ve now been in the ice cream business for 147 years! So Happy Birthday, Graeter’s! We think you’re something pretty great to celebrate!
Graeter’s Ice Cream is a nationally recognized and awarded ice cream brand (Named Top 5 in the Country by the Food Network!) that was founded almost 150 years ago in Cincinnati, OH. The fourth-generation family owned and operated company has perfected the art of using the French Pot, a traditional, small batch artisanal process of making ice cream. Known for their indulgent, premium flavors and ingredients, they’re also widely recognized for their gargantuan gourmet chocolate chips.
Okay, it’s just over a week until July 4th, and I’m in full planning mode! How about you?
July 4th is actually my mom’s birthday (we call her the firecracker of the family) so our celebrations always coincide with a birthday celebration, as well!
This year, we hope to catch the fireworks display on the evening of the 3rd in downtown (here’s a shot from last year’s festivities – I LOVE fireworks!) and then we’ll be set for dinner on the 4th to celebrate independence and birthday together!
Of course, our entryway has been decorated for patriotic purposes since Memorial Day, so I’m halfway there!
But for the rest of the fun, where have I been looking? You guessed it! PINTEREST!
First of all, Happy St. Patrick’s Day, all! And Happy Birthday to my sweet hubby!
Hope everyone has some fun plans to celebrate today!
And speaking of fun…

Well, here we are – another Monday! Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Here’s what I was up to:
Accomplished on Friday:
- Grocery shopping
- Made dinner
Here’s where the half-mowed yard comes into play.
Normally on Friday nights, we go out to eat. But I had some tilapia and risotto that I had planned on making for dinner, so, after grocery shopping, I came home and got everything started. Naturally, we ate a little later than normal, but no worries, because we ended up getting some…ahem…dinner entertainment.
In the midst of my family descending upon us for the holiday weekend on the 4th of July, we decided to throw a little party for my cousin, who is now taller than me (well, that doesn’t really take much, but it’s still sad) and turning the big 15! In trying to come up with a theme, I remembered a special trip she made for her birthday last year to see the lovely 1D (One Direction). I didn’t know too much about them (I’m familiar with their song “That’s What Makes You Beautiful”…that’s about it), but I decided I had found my theme!
My research began. And here’s what I came up with.
You’ve seen my dining room:
So I decided to do a tad bit of decor there. In the process, I rediscovered these fabulous items at Party City:
