The Definitive Guide To Natural Laundry Detergents

Have you ever considered what detergent you are washing your clothes with, or do you simply choose the cheapest option on the shelf? In other words, is your laundry natural laundry? Or artificial laundry?

Of course it can be difficult to find the right balance between your budget and your environmental concerns. But, there are a number of natural laundry detergents which you can use that won’t break the bank and will do an excellent job at washing your clothes. Using the right laundry detergent can result in the best possible fabric care for your clothing!

You should be aware that the more natural a product is, the more time you will need to spend pre-treating stains. While natural laundry detergents can be very effective, they do not contain the chemicals associated with premium brands. While these chemicals do make it easier to clean fabrics, there is the environmental factor to consider.

Manufactured Natural Laundry Powder

You can find these on the shelves in your local store and in the health store. There are several manufacturers who create laundry detergent completely naturally. The main ingredient in these types of detergents is sodium carbonate; also known as washing soda.

If you have water that contains magnesium sulfate, you should not use this type of detergent; it will not dissolve. The clumping will cause damage to your machine over an extended period of time.

Detergents With Enzymes

This type of detergent is about as close as you can get to the main brands in terms of cleaning power.  With these products, you’ll notice a longer ingredient list; but they don’t contain any artificial brighteners. These detergents are usually scent free, but there are a few that give a gentle, natural odor.

New Product Review – Keystone Meats (RECIPES INCLUDED!)

These days, wth two 18-month-olds running around the house, a hubby who’s gone from home working about 12 hours each day, and lil’ ol’ me, who’s trying to hold down the fort, this blog, a photography business…you get the idea. It’s kinda CRAZY around here, y’all!

Even in the midst of all the nutty, one thing has stayed the same: I still LOVE to cook. My cooking has just been…ummm…modified…a bit here of late. And I’m learning that there is NOTHING in the world wrong with that!

The newly married me who started this blog literally created five-course meals for dinner ALL. THE. TIME. I seriously did. And I loved every second of it! But the not-so-newly-married me, with a hungry hubby and sweet babies and cuddly pets and a house to take care of and a few businesses to run…well, I don’t get the chance to cook five-course meals very often anymore. But I still make sure that my family is fed in a wholesome, and these days, SIMPLE way. And I’ve got to share a line of products I’ve found to help me do just that!

New product #review - Keystone Meats! #recipesincluded Click To Tweet

I’ll be honest. When I thought of “canned meat” I thought of Spam. Nothing against Spam at all, it’s just not the type of thing I normally would include in a nutritious meal, ya know? So when Keystone Meats contacted me and wanted me to check out their products, I hesitated just for a minute. But I’m so glad I decided to go ahead and accept their offer!

Folks, Keystone Meats is no Spam! (Poor Spam, it’s getting a bad rap here today!) Keystone Canned Meats is still maintaining the family tradition of providing all natural quality products! It starts with lean USDA meat that is selected, cut and packed by hand and adding only a dash of sea salt for flavor. All meats are slow cooked in the can to maintain their natural juices and maximize flavor. The result is perfectly cooked, all natural lean and tender meats with no added ingredients or preservatives. With beef, chicken, pork, turkey and ground beef, you really can’t beat it!

Keystone Meats sent me over a can of their chicken and also a can of their beef. I decided to incorporate the chicken into one of our family’s favorite recipes, and create another recipe around the beef! Here’s what I came up with…

Yes, folks, those are Quick Chicken Quesadillas from Lauren and Kate over at Ease & Carrots! While their recipe calls for rotisserie chicken (which is what I normally use when I make it) I found that I loved using Keystone Meat’s chicken! Super easy and super tasty, too! (And the best part was, my hubby couldn’t tell the difference!)

New Product Review – Scentfill.com! (COUPON included!)

If there’s one thing I love, it’s when things smell nice. And if there’s one thing that’s sometimes hard around a home that includes 2 11-month-old twins, a dog, a cat and a husband…it’s getting things to smell nice. HELLO. Can anyone testify?!

Sure, I have some favorite air freshener brands, but sometimes I’ll get on the band-wagon with a new scent, and a couple weeks in, I can’t even find the scent in the stores anymore! Or, if it’s a scent that everyone else likes, too, it sells out before I can get my next purchase in!

So when Mark Callison from Scentfill.com contacted me to see if I was interested in reviewing some of the Scentfill products, well – color me intrigued.

As I stopped to do a bit of research, I first discovered that Scentfill has a category of products are 100% all-natural. That’s a HUGE deal for me these days, folks. I’m so sick of the chemicals and additives that are sneaked into our lives on a daily basis! If it’s all-natural, then it’s definitely for me! (And these are the FIRST 100% natural plug in air freshener refills available – so now you know!)

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo…with Rudolph Foods & Dei Fratelli! AND A GIVEAWAY!

**PLEASE NOTE: While Rudolph Foods and Dei Fratelli DID provide me with these products to review at no cost, I was not in any way paid for my review. The following opinion is hereby my own.**

These days we’re trying to eat a bit healthier at our home! We’re mainly watching our carbs and sugars, and making sure we don’t overdo it on the caffeine, and we’re doing pretty well! Both of us are feeling better and, although some days it’s easier than others, overall we’re thankful we made the change.

But the hard part of this we’ve encountered are the parties. Take the fast-approaching Cinco de Mayo, for example. I mean, what kind of a party would it even be without CHIPS AND SALSA! You simply CANNOT have a Cinco de Mayo party without those two important ingredients!

But the chips. Goodness, the chips are FULL of carbs. And the salsa? Oh, the sugars that can be found in those yummy little jars!

So when the fine folks at Rudolph Foods sent me a variety of pork rinds, I thought…hmmm. Pork rinds and salsa. Can it be?

I began searching for a most-excellent salsa recipe. One that was not high in sodium or carbs or sugar. I had a few different ideas…and that’s when the folks at Dei Fratelli sent me nothing other than SALSA.

I mean, seriously, people. It doesn’t get any better than that!

So if you’re looking for a healthier snack for your next party, check this out…
