Happy Birthday to The Road to Domestication!

This Sunday is a special day for The Road to Domestication. A little over two years ago, I had an idea.

I was missing writing. For those of you who didn’t know, I double-majored in Journalism and Public Relations in college, and since nearly sending myself over the edge working as a magazine editor, I hadn’t done much writing. And I missed it terribly. I needed an outlet. Plus, I was getting ready to get married, and had all these lovely ideas in my head of what the “perfect” wife was like…all domestic and stuff.

I started an album on my Facebook page called The Road to Domestication, where I posted (and still post, occasionally) pics of all things domestic that I was involved in. But that didn’t help with the writing aspect.

I had never really followed any blogs before. And I had NO clue what I was doing…and probably still don’t most days! But I figured, what the heck – I’m gonna start a blog!

So I did! It looked like this:

Blog

(It’s still active if you want to go back and see from whence I came – check it out HERE!)

And it was kind of hit or miss. Sometimes once a week I’d post. Sometimes I’d go several months without posting anything. There wasn’t much rhyme or reason to it. And then I started following other bloggers. And they were amazing! In fact, if you check out The Road to Domestication on Facebook, you’ll see that I’ve been posting “Blogging Inspirations”. These are the women who inspired me to kick this thing up to the next level!

So, in February of 2013, I set up this new blog, I worked hard to brand it and plan it, and I hit the ground running in March. Three months later, I’m thrilled to death at the response! I never would have thought it would grow this much in such a short amount of time! But I’m so thankful!

On June 9, 2011, I posted my first blog entry. And since I don’t blog over the weekends, I wanted to take today to say, Happy 2nd Birthday to The Road to Domestication!

Thank you to all my family and friends who read faithfully! Thank you to all the new friends I’ve made so far along this journey – your support and encouragement are invaluable! And thank you to the women who inspired me…who still come by and leave me sweet comments. You thrill my heart!

And the best is yet to come!

  1. Happy Birthday! We have a similar story! My blog is only 7 months old and I had never followed a blog and didn’t know what I was doing, either. But the love of writing propelled me into it and I’m so glad it did! I’m having a blast getting to know bloggers like you! Congrats on your two year celebration! I’m also in your blogging fb group.
