Minerva Dairy’s Amish Roll Butter – WAY Better than Margarine! (GIVEAWAY INCLUDED!)

Ever just think of how simple it would be if we could all go back to “the good ol’ days”? I guess we all have our own definition of those days, but for me, at least when it comes to food, the good ol’ days included big ol’ gardens full of fresh veggies, hen houses full of fresh eggs, and barns full of cows for fresh dairy products. Okay, okay…now I’m hungry. Aren’t you?

Because in my mind, there was so much more GOODNESS in food in those good ol’ days…and much less…NOT good. Preservatives? Hormones? Dyes and colors? Nah, none of that. But it’s not like you can just find healthy products like BUTTER anymore, can you? Impossible, right?

Well, thanks to Minerva Dairy, WRONG! Their butter is so legit that it’s WAY better than margarine! With 84% butterfat, making it the best good-for-you butter around, the 5th generation family-owned Minerva Dairy’s Amish Roll butter comes from local Ohio farms that boast pasture-raised cows that are hormone and antibiotic free. And guess what? You can order it online and have it shipped right to your door! No more excuses at all!

The 4 Best Chat Apps For Families

Over the Easter weekend, we had out-of-the-country guests with us in our home for six days. They weren’t family, and they were each far away from their own families, too – which means we all spent some time chatting off and on about how they keep up with their families while they’re traveling! (Especially since we’ve entered an age where it makes sense for even our kids have smartphones.) Luckily, this technology has the capability to bring families closer together and keep you informed about your family’s safety and well-being. And I discovered that there are a number of apps that will help you keep track of all your family members through group communication platforms. Here are four of the best chat services for families that will enhance your group communication:

Capture

Slack

Slack is a messaging app that keeps all your group communication in one place. The app is frequently used in workplaces, though is also an ideal program for family communication. The app can streamline communication between you and your loved ones, which reduces the likelihood of crossed wires or misunderstanding. The app will facilitate real-time messaging and file sharing for one-on-one and group conversations.

For example, if your child is part of a soccer team that has varying practice times and locations, you can make sure everyone is updated on the activity specifics. You can share the weekly soccer schedule with your child and partner, so you can set up a carpool or decided who will drive. The app can help store important documents — like school and medical forms — and can easily integrate with Dropbox, Asana, Google Drive, Twitter and Zendesk. It keeps everything in one place, so you and your family can stay organized and reduce the stress that comes with hectic, family life. Although some say Slack is due for some backlash, that’s in the business world — families will love it.

The 2015 Ornament Exchange – And a Keepsake Ornament Tutorial!

I know, I know, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, right? No worries, I’m not trying to usher in an early Christmas or anything, I just wanted to share a little something to whet your appetite for Christmas crafting in the soon-to-come future!

And there’s no better way to do that than by participating in the 2015 Ornament Exchange!

Ornament-Exchange-1-683x1024

Today is actually day nine of this year’s festivities, and with more than 80 bloggers participating, it’s been a blast so far, and there’s even more fun to come! Bottom line: if this is the year you’re finally going to hand-craft some ornaments for family, friends, or even your own tree, you shall not lack inspiration!

Here’s how it works: all participating bloggers have been paired up with a partner. We’ve all been in contact with each other, and were allowed a budget of $10 to create or buy an ornament to exchange!

Oh, and that’s not all! ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14, A FABULOUS LINK-UP WILL GO LIVE WHERE ALL OF YOU CAN LINK UP YOUR OWN ORNAMENT TUTORIALS! Stop back by for that!

I was partnered with the talented Emily from Simply Home Love (check out her blog if you’re not a regular over there already – you’ll love it!) and after chatting a bit, she shared with me that she likes clean lines and red, gray and white. Perfect! My plan was to head for Michael’s with the intention of crafting an ornament, but if I couldn’t make that work, I knew I could use the ornament exchange’s fall-back of purchasing a pre-made one! Fortunately, the crafting powers that be were working in my favor!

I knew I couldn’t be as flashy as my normal taste would be because she preferred clean lines. And I really wanted to make an ornament to celebrate her blog! If you know anything about women bloggers (especially moms like Emily) we juggle SO much to keep our blogs alive and well! Our blogs are a HUGE part of our daily life, and yet, although I have ornaments that celebrate various other parts of my daily life, I have nothing that celebrates my blog – and I was betting on the fact that Emily didn’t, either.

So…allow me to present: A Keepsake Ornament Tutorial!
