A Grilling Season GIVEAWAY! Plus, an AWESOME Burger Recipe! With Stubb’s!

We’re wrapping up June and headed into July, which means if you haven’t been grilling already, you’re soon to be! Steaks, burgers and chicken have seen our grill so far, how about yours? 

While steaks, burgers and chicken are pretty standard as far as meats that end up on grills, I’ve got some bigger plans for the near future, thanks to Stubb’s! Because, just like everything else in the world, there are TRENDS in barbecue, too!

Stubb used to say “it all starts with a great rub,” and in 2016 that includes not only steaks, brisket and ribs, but also burgers! And, as always, my favorite thing about Stubb’s is that it gets its bold flavors from real ingredients, with no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners. It contains no high fructose corn syrup, which is the No. 1 ingredient in most national BBQ sauce brands!

Today, Stubb’s BBQ expert and grandson Rocky Stubblefield is sharing a great tip to help us jump on a new BBQ trend: the “Boosted Burger” trend!

Rocky’s tip: Create over–the-top burgers by coating each patty with Stubb’s Bar-B-Q Rub, then sprinkle with a little smoked sea salt to really enhance that smoky barbecue taste. Let the patties sit for a while before cooking – you can actually see the flavor seeping into the meat! Before you throw them on the grill, make a thumbprint in the middle of the patty to get a flat, evenly cooked burger instead of a plump, rounded one that is undercooked in the middle.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend, all! No, I normally don’t post over the weekend, but this post is a special one!

Now, let me clarify: I DO know the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day, never fear. (Just in case any of YOU don’t, Memorial Day is the day when we honor those who have fallen while serving our country. Veteran’s Day is the day when we honor those who have served our country, and are still among us.) While this IS Memorial Day Weekend, what I’m about to tell you about is closely related – and a great cause to get involved in!

Overnight Salad: A Family Favorite!

My husband’s family is BIG on getting together! Everyone gathers often at the family home, in the “party room”, as they call it (which is an old workshop transformed into a huge eating room with an attached screen porch and a full kitchen!) There are normally about 50 of us out there for any given event, and one of the favorite dishes of all is always the Overnight Salad.

I first had the Overnight Salad a few years ago when I attended the first dinner with my husband (before we were even married) and I LOVED it! Number one, it was gluten-free, which is how I must eat, and number two, it was GOOD!

Over the next couple of years, I helped prepare the Overnight Salad on several occasions, and my hubby’s aunt finally gave me the recipe. She’s not exactly sure where it came from, but one thing’s for sure – she can make it in her sleep now, and I’m well on my way, too!
